I do see this as a loss, though. Rockin' Country was actually one of KD's better shows, and its use of a live band was a wonderful (and rare) feature among shows at KD. The fact that one of KD's two shows featuring live musicians didn't last more than a single season does worry me a little. My hope is that the money not being put towards live musicians will instead be used to fund other shows and, hopefully, increase the quality of the park's productions. We shall see.
I think they should scrap the whole stage. There's nowhere to sit and enjoy any show that plays there. How can they expect people that have been walking around all day to 'stand' and watch a show with no shade and nowhere to set down food or drinks. The Beatles could be performing on that stage and I'd still not stand there for more than 2 minutes.
I agree, the Grove Stage is horrible. It's also rather embarrassing seeing the poor performers putting on a show in what's essentially a repurposed game tent. Its being removed is definitely a possibility, but in my opinion that would be silly because measures could so easily be taken to increase its viewership. They really just need to place two or three rows of benches in front of the stage (which they have; I took a behind-the-scenes tour of the park and noticed a ton of benches sitting in the boneyard) and put up some awning/shade structures like what BGW installed for the stage in Land of the Dragons. It's not that difficult to improve an area for your guests.

It may, but the stage is so far back in the Grove....that area of the park leading to Hurler is nothing but a large clump of ashphalt. They could easily tear it up a bit, landscape it and close off a small portion designated to seats for the stage.
Not to mention how dead it is back there (It's practically a ghost town.) I see no problem with adding seating, awnings and some landscaping.

I'm not exactly sure, Nicole. The area from what I've seen is fairly large and open. I think they could just add around 3 or 4 rows of benches(not permanent ones, removable ones) right in front of the stage without it jutting out too much into the pathway. The stage is located right next to a fairly large planter, and pushed back from the edge of it. Here's a quick draw up of what I imagine the space 3-4 rows would take up:
That could be a capacity of 25-30+ people(that's all it really needs, I don't see there being any crowd going to see any show there that will exceed that). There is even the possibility that they could remove the yellow tent and push it back even further, so the chairs don't jut out into the pathway at all beyond the end of the planter. They don't really even need to set up permanent shade structures. If they wanted to make it all temporary so they could remove it easily for potentially busier days(to prevent bottle-necking), and Halloween Haunt, they could just put multiple umbrellas up around the benches. Or they could decide to make everything permanent and put up shade structures. The possibilities are endless.

My experience at KD on busy days is that every path is crowded and slow. I think the last thing they need is to reduce the size of any of their walkways.

Fair enough. Considering I try to plan my visits on the hottest weekdays during the summer we might have different experiences on what's crowded when.
I-street can be Hell regardless of when you visit, and I always see clusters around Shockwave but I never found the back end of the Grove to be terribly crowded.
Nonetheless even the slightest of change could help improve the stage area.
I'm standing by my thought of 'Rip it Out' and start over with a venue that people would actually want to visit. Shade, tables, chairs, booths, benches, concessions, any one of these for starters. All of them for something worth a crap. Hell, move the tent over to Country Kitchen's covered decks for more of a dining experience.
