RE: Project 2018: RMC Hurler

They could do what they've done so far in 2 weeks with a full crew. The only reason I can see for going on and having like 2 guys work on it is so people can see they're doing something. Seems to me they should put in bleachers and sell drinks or something, rather than try to cover it up.

RE: Project 2018: RMC Hurler

Anyway I can tell you with Eyeball Camera shots, still legal, is what they had + what they're doing = ejector air. I don't see anything more unconventional yet though. I think they will use the the full height to the ground, unlike the original design which consistently stayed above 12-15' except for the inside bank.

I saw a group recently with huge cameras a couple weeks ago and I think to them it's just out of control (Yeah I know we feed on it maybe that was you). They know pics will slip out but as soon as you're being obvious about it I can see their point and they must have just given the speech.

RE: Project 2018: RMC Hurler

It's now confirmed that the new coaster will be taller than Hurler was! In this picture, you can see on the left that the lift hill is being steepened as new wood and ledgers are added. The new lift angle makes it look like the RMC will be significantly taller than Hurler.

RE: Project 2018: RMC Hurler

Looking at the new steel ledgers on the middle hill of the backstretch, it will be going right down to ground level. Took 2 rides on Grizzly to decide it's pulling up as of the last ledger just in time to kiss the ground -- on a 2D picture it probably could look like it's heading underground. Those hills are going to be extreme, and that's without even figuring the lift hill being raised!

I did a bit of math here to approximately determine the new Hurlers lift height. Hurler is 83 ft tall. I was unable to find the angle of accent so I tried to guesstimate myself. I found the closest image of Hurler I could find that would allow me to find the angle of accent. This image was just about pefectly perpendicular with old Hurlers lift hill which allowed me to use a protractor against a flat section of supports as Hurlers base, and Hurler lift track as its variable. I came up with a 25 degree accent which was later verified by an app on Android called "maps ruler" (This allowed me to get an approximate base distance of Hurler from a satellite image. This distance was only a tenth off of what I originally had). As a right angle, this means "old" Hurler had a 83 foot hight, 177.99 ft base, and a 196.39 ft Hypotenuse (Or distance from base to height on the opposing side). With this information I took the new image Joe posted as referance. All I looked for and needed to know was the new Angle of accent which was fairly easy. As well as I could, I tried to match New Hurlers support structure with the old which are lined up perfectly; this allowed me to get a good angle.

New Hurler: I got an appoximate 31.5 degree lift accent. Assuming new Hurlers base will be as long as old Hurlers base of 177.99 ft then we're looking at a new height of approximately 109.07 ft and a hypotenuse of 208.75 ft.

Old Hurler > 83 ft tall
New Hurler > 109 ft tall

Edit: The blue line following the lift RMC has constructed is a demonstration of what this lift should look like. I left this out in my original post by accident.

I'm not sure the base is going to stay the same. I've heard someone say they might extend it a bit and make the coaster around 120 ft tall or so.

But your math is correct.

I can't say how pleased I am that trig turned out to actually be useful! I wish my math teacher this past semester gave us an example like that lol.:p

I'm looking forward to seeing how RMC Hurler turns out! I liked it before, but I thought it was super rough and 'bouncy'. Didn't really care since it didn't bang ears,of course, but still!

I'm still not convinced that this is a RMC conversion since KD has not announced it. This could still be some minor infrastructure work. Maybe that's why they're harassing coaster fans, KD doesn't want them to get their hopes up.

But there's rmc parts right on the coaster already! You'd expect KD to tease fans by continuing to build it, then announcement day they tell us they're adding another snoopy ride and tear down all the work they put into rehabbing hurler?
