With all this work going on down by the Rhine River, I think it may be very plausible to see another permit pop up for some pathway/stair work as well to make it more accessible. One easy, low maintenance fix I suggested a while ago was just have a Z- style pathway going down the hill so it is not just a straight shot down but rather a gradual decline, at least on the one side by Rhinefeld. It would make the area more accessible and create an opportunity to have guests be able to walk through more scenery.

I wasn't expecting them to re-do the docks actually. I wonder if I should be nervous for how hey will look next year. What is the actual scope of work being done? Is it like a complete removal and re-build or more cosmetic, or both?

Just as long as they keep the straight shot path.  If they replaced the straight shot with a zig zag path, that would completely ruin the Loch as the quickest way to get from the gate to the Festhaus.

Seeing shots of the Rhine River Cruise tents reminds me of something.  Whenever I saw brochures for the park as a kid (long before I was ever able to visit, sadly, since I grew up in PA), I always thought it was the station for the Loch Ness Monster, since the two structures always seemed to be photographed together.

The Rhine river cruise seems to be taking a completely different route right now, I'm about to go on it to confirm.

The boats sometimes head straight after crossing under the trestle towards the golf courses, and sometimes turn at the buoy toward Apollo's Chariot. Unless they went to some other mysterious place, those have both been routine routs as far as I've noticed. I don't know who or what makes that decision though.

I think depending on the crowds and the lines for the ride, they may take the longer route by Apollo's Chariot, or they may take the shorter route straight past the train trestle and back.

i think that a dock landing on the back end of Roman Rapids would be a fantastic idea! never thought of that! but damn! what a great idea. it would give people another way to travel around the park, and would probably allow the Rhine River Cruise to attract more guests to ride!

^That would be cool but sadly there is a fairly steep 70 foot hill between Roman rapids and the Rhine. They could add stairs.

Stumbled on another shot of the classic look of the boats.
