Universal Destinations & Experiences is now in the planning stages for a brand new theme park in Saudi Arabia. The park would be a licensed property, with potential financing by a government backed Saudi entity, if a deal is finalized and approved.

There had been previous reports that Saudi governing officials were looking prior to potentially back Comcast if Comcast tried to go after Warner Bros, but it now seems a new development has occurred altogether. During that visit, Chief Executive Brian Roberts took part in an investment conference, and visited the megaproject of Qiddiya (where it's being suspected the new Universal park would be built at).

Just like with the Six Flags park, this is most likely a scenario where Universal builds and manages the park, but it's full funded from the government. Great way to get someone else to pay for R&D and just make money on the management and licensing fees, just like Disney is doing in Dubai.
