If things keep going as they are, Valleyfair might get CGA's Flight Deck B&M invert. Small but mighty - and yet, Valleyfair and CGA both deserve better.
CGA has given zero indication of ramping down operations at all, much less to that extent. That’s also a terrain coaster that’s basically 30 years old now, so highly unlikely
From what I’ve been able to gather from my visits, the land clearing is barely anything of note at the moment
Because Valleyfair is in a lower tier of Cedar Fair concerning investments. A$25M investment would see better returns at any of Cedar Fair’s big five parks, which make up 80% of their EBITDA (since CWL is the only one of those lacking a B&M invert in this case it would have to go there). It’s also likely the GM wants something more unique than what’s at other CF properties.
I'm not sure that follows. A big addition might not even make a measurable increase to a large park, while it could be a revolution for a smaller one. However, this wouldn't be as advantageous for CF as Six Flags. SF has a reputation for never adding anything to big parks but big rides and never giving anything to their smaller ones. Therefore, a large coaster added to one of their smaller parks could increase attendance across the entire chain by changing their reputation.
I’m not sure that’s how that works. By big parks I mean the ones that pull in the most revenue and attendance like Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Knott’s. Additionally, while it could increase attendance, the finances of a smaller park like Valleyfair probably can’t support something expensive like a large B&M invert or a Mack hyper coaster. Increasing attendance isn’t the main thing parks are shooting for when making investments, as they’re also trying to profit.
