To sum up ride procurement for a car ride nowadays...

There's two other mainstream manufacturers off the top of my head that actively make these, Mettalbau Emmeln and Zamperla. Both are overseas, the former hardly ever works on US soil, and while United Parks can/could easily engage both I'd imagine there'd be a fair amount of customization involved that maybe would devolve into a multi-year project with all things considered.

Zamperla this past weekend actually oversaw the opening of Hot Wheels Turbo Drive, a major car ride project at Beto Carrero World in Brazil. Considering that it replaced a go-kart track and is extremely well presented I'd say this was a great attraction, but it took WAY too long to build. Work began in June 2024, and by November the ride was completed (minus landscaping and some theming elements) as well as being in the early stages of commissioning. I couldn't tell you whether that delay was a failure on the park's end (they were also allocating resources to multiple different refurb projects), a skirmish with local inspection, or whether Zamp was having a tough time delivering hardware. Might even have been all three.

Another point to raise about Zamperla specifically is that their factory production works in waves. They like to fabricate similar groups of attractions at once, as its easier to produce a bunch of the same parts at once. A custom or very different attraction will enter a waitlist on their schedule, while buying something that a bunch of other clients purchased might allow the ride to be delivered quicker. I.e. the primary reason why Kings Island chose a half-capacity version of an Endeavor was because the larger version would have meant waiting another season, but other variants of the smaller version were scheduled for production and the team wouldn't have to pivot. My thesis in all of this is that Zamperla could have said that they needed more time to deliver what would obviously be a very custom attraction.

I don't know how much or if any of what I've said were actual reasons, am literally just spitballing. Getting hardware into the States might have ballooned the cost/timeline beyond feasibility for what it's really worth, maybe there were also better projects to prioritize (rethemes) that were more interesting/easier to pursue, who knows. A major non-coaster investment like this is certainly a choice though, I hope they pursue it again someday.

Gould manufacturing seems to be the most prevalent post-arrow car ride manufacturer at least within the United States. Over at Kings Dominion we've gradually had Gould cars introduced on blue ridge tollway to augment the aging fleet of arrow cars.
Re: battery concerns, at least for Gould electric cars the batteries are still lead acid batteries based on their website so that specific factor shouldn't be that much of an issue. But all our cars are the gas model so I can't 100% confirm that.

If rumors regarding Pompeii are true, I'd like to see this car ride akin to Le Mans go on this plot. The opportunity for pedestrian-ride interaction linking Scotland to Italy would be great (Bridges over the ride and whatnot). And make the car ride English themed vs Italian being nearby to England Skyride and Banbury Cross hamlet.

Yeah, Vbolt renovation should be happening next year. Announcement within a month more than likely. I think Kevin actually confirmed an announcement was coming at a November pass holder event? Think @horsesboy said something about that.

New Le Mans project is very much on ice. Can't move forward without a manufacturer and the manufacturer that was lined up fell through. Ideas never really die so it could be resurrected in the future, but for now, it's as good as dead as far as I know.

I'm really curious if the plans were for ice or electric drivetrains... Or even something else?

So at the pass member appreciation announcement event yesterday, it felt like Kevin was projecting a bunch of confidence about a 2027 project—and in response to various Q&A questions, he heavily suggested that there are no immediate, solidified plans for coasters, flat rides, or thrill rides. Reading tea leaves, it doesn't feel unlikely that Italian Le Mans could be that 2027 project. There are other options that immediately come to mind too—namely a Killarney sim building attraction or other dark ride (based on the recent surveys)—but would any of those be solidified enough for Kevin to tease this far out normally? If a project were already largely finalized but now delayed, I could see that being a different story though.

Just some food for thought.

My money is on Le Mans but I expect the project tweaked from the current plans.

I just thought about the potiential ideas with Christmas town and howl o scream if the car rides became a real thing

KD tried for years to do a Halloween overlay on their antique cars, but it never worked. It’s too dangerous for actors to be effective scarers and BGW’s budget wouldn’t be enough for anything effective prop-wise. At most you’re looking at night rides with slightly above Spirit Halloween level animatronics what would be set up to basic motion activation which wouldn’t work half the time.

Xmas overlays would work as you can just put a bunch of lights up and people will eat it up.
