Originally planned with no animals? Damn. I really hope that plan changes. Adding a land themed to one of Earth’s most biodiverse regions to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and not having any significant animal attractions seems criminal.

I’d love a tropical Americas inspired walking trail like Gorilla Falls Trail and Maharaja Jungle Trek. Those two trails are some of the most impressive animal exhibits I’ve ever seen, and a version with Central and South American animals would be incredible.

Keyword: originally it was approved with no animals.

According to users on WDWMagic, insiders are saying the new land may actually have animals after all. Dodging a bullet if that's true. Can't wait to see more exotic species in the park, for instance: "deep in the jungles of South America, there's a bug - well, technically he's an arachnid, you see..."

Looking at a map, I wonder if that is how the area was designed given the Dinosaur show building backs up to the main guest parking lot. Also I think all the animal related things are north of the Tree.

As far as a new land in Animal Kingdom without animals …..

This is how Disney themes now. Whatever the latest IP. With no regards to the overall area or park theme. Tiana in Frontiertown. The entire California Adventure park becoming an IP park. IP all over Epcot instead of its original world fair theme

Although it’s not as bad as Paramount slapping in IP randomly.

Fuck.

I wouldn't put too much stock into what WDWNT says. They usually come up with big attention-grabbing headlines to trick you into clicking on their site, just like other companies like Inside the Magic and AllEars. Besides, I doubt Dinosaur is going anywhere soon. It would probably take a year or so for them to change it over to Indy, and Disney would most likely make a “get your last rides in” announcement before closing it down for such a lengthy makeover, like what they did with Test Track 2.0.

Disney officially announced the Tropical Americas-themed land addition last night at D23. in lore, the area will be named Pueblo Esperanza and feature shopping, dining, and a new multiple Disney IP-themed carousel. All of this is slated to replace the current Dinoland area, Triceratops Spin, the Boneyard play area, etc.

I at least appreciate the attempt to make animals a focus of the area, even if it’s a bit of a stretch. It sounds like the Encanto ride will be focused on the animal room from the movie, and Indiana Jones seems to revolve around a “mysterious creature” that lives in the temple, so the tie-ins are there.

I hope there’s at least a few animal exhibits in the land, even small ones like a bird exhibit or some tortoises or something. I’m a bit concerned that there didn’t seem to be any mention of animal encounters in the announcement, unless I missed it. Tropical Americas is the most biodiverse region on planet Earth, and not giving us some animal exhibits based on it seems criminal.

It’s exciting that they compared this land to DAK’s Harambe village. I’ve read that Harambe is one of the most realistic representations of a rural Kenyan town you can find anywhere, and if they can carry that same attention to detail into this land, it’ll be wonderful.

Hey friends! On 3-14 I was able to head over to DAK to see all the latest progress over at Tropical Americas and take my final rides over at It's Tough to be a Bug (which will be replaced with a zootopia show by the end of this year).

Over at Tropical Americas, it seems (from what i could actually see) that Dinorama is completely leveled and TriceraTop Spin has been completely removed and is no longer on site. I was unable to see if any digging was happening at this time. In terms of Dinosaur and The Boneyard, they are both still operational and will be until either the end of 2025 or early 2026.

For It's Tough to be a Bug, I didn't see any signs of work outside which leads me to believe that its beautiful queue will be saved for the zootopia show. If you haven't watched the 4D show! If you can, head mover to DAK as today is its final day of operation!

Here you can check out all of the latest progress.
