I mean Clearly BOF is ka’s replacement
For me, it’s difficult to comment on a coaster I’ve never been on and call it one thing or another

That’s why I agree BOF is now the #1 at Great Adventure. Because I’ve been on it. 🔥

(Edit: I worded that terribly but just wanted to clarify I’ve been on all the coasters at Great Adventure. But all hail our new king, BOF)

(ignoring the suggestion that Ragin Cajun is that the only coaster at Great Adventure you feel qualified to assess and the implication that you haven't ridden the others)

I'll be riding Time Traveler tomorrow and I'll be sure to fill you all in on my thoughts, after which I'm sure I'll be told that as the prototype of the exact make and model being built at Great Adventure, it's somehow still not a relevant comparison because Mack Produkt perfekt !! German orthography is just so hehe. And their Produkten infallible

I mean I’ve heard Time Traveler is good but definitely the weaker of the two existing extreme spinners. I have one German friend who’s been on RtH and insists that ride is one of the best in the world. However I do think it’s hard to make a direct comparison because those two rides are full layout experiences while the spire is clearly going to be a gimmick ride through and through.

I agree; Time Traveler is much worse than Ride to Happiness, but neither is a good comparison to the tower coaster. I *will* eventually compare the level of the dampening of the spinning to the two of them, since RtH definitely spins more than Time Traveler, and I’m almost certain it’s because of the strength of the dampening, not the layout.

I don't know if Time Traveler is worse than RtH, since i haven't ridden RtH myself, but Time Traveler is the best coaster in SDC by a LONG shot.

I know Ryan himself said the plan was to operate Ka and project purple together, but that’s probably just PR speak honestly

The real plan was most likely for Ka to close at the end of last season instead of the season before, with nothing changing in regard to when project purple would start construction and then when it’d open to the public.

Then the state forced the park to close the ride early due to Zumanjaro, the chain released a PR statement with all the new additions listed, and then released another PR statement last August announcing the delay of the coaster (which was always going to happen according to the likely intended timeline)

Call me crazy, but I prefer the timeframe Ka closed in. Obviously not the manner in which it was done (though I think the reaction likely would’ve been more or less the same), but it’s the only coaster to ever open and close as the tallest and fastest operating coaster, and it may very well stay that way. This wouldn’t have been possible if it remained open for even an extra month and a half, when Formula Rossa finally reopened.

Let’s be honest, Ka closing is only a sour point due to how it went down.

We’re all loving the PR project purple is getting…. Could you imagine if they gave Ka the farewell season it deserved with notice to the GP while simultaneously building and teasing project purple?

I feel for me as much as Ka will always hold nostalgic value, the ride was more visual then it was anything else. Sure the launch was phenomenal but outside of that it was largely kinda meh. (My opinion calm down everyone). But the visual of seeing Ka looming over the tree line from a distance will always be the thrill of it to me.

It would’ve been cool to have both operate together but I think it would’ve been even cooler to have it bid farewell the correct way while building the Spire.

Truly a missed opportunity but one that isn’t as big a deal as so many make it out to be.

I’m just really excited to see the next iteration of this park now. It’s time for change and I can’t wait to see the next ten years develop

sir, this is a wendys

anyways if the drop tower wasn't built onto kingda ka and instead built in movietown, maybe kingda ka can have operated for one more year and then removed it

If they revive the Golden Kingdom, they should build a coaster like Pantheon at Bush Gardens. A multilaunch with a smaller top hat, spike, air time hills, few inversions would be a perfect fit. I would love to see them call it “King Tigris” or “Son of KA” as a tribute and be the spiritual successor of Ka. The Golden kingdom should be the next project after Phantom Spire and really hope they can start this for 2028. I agree the way they handled the removal was wrong and they should honor KA and its history in the park. A new coaster in GK area would be a great way to honor it.

Slopspire delays a meaningful investment like this for a few years at the very least, or (as I theorize) (if successful) will make it clear that a meaningfully enjoyable investment like this is increasingly unlikely to ever come to the property over whatever flashily dressed gimmickbahn they can con people into pretending to enjoy/tolerate queues for next

Yes, lets add our third thrill multi launch coaster in a row
