If the 315 foot height of the current structure is accurate, I’m curious based on the angle of the track here: do we think there’s enough leveling out of the drop to reach 350, with then another 25 feet of ascent from the wrap around? Or does it seem more like the track will level out around 350 ft overall and maybe the tower goes 25ft taller than the track itself. I’m thinking back to the “Top 5 Tallest” which if it actually is 5 would make it less than 367 feet.
Considering the fact that the crane is 450ft, I’m willing to bet the 315ft marked where the track was prior to today rather than the structure itself

Does it actually look large in person. I feel videos and photos don’t do it any justice.

Kingda Ka looked ginormous in videos and pictures so I’m wondering jsut how much visually in person is noticeable
I would say the feeling to Ka is similar because even though the tower is significantly shorter the tower stands closer to the actual park. Ka was tall but also isolated on its own island. This ride is ALSO fairly isolated but less so.

I know it's not done but this (formerly iconic) viewshed is not looking promising. I don't see this structure being built up to absolutely dominate from this perspective the way Kingda Ka used to, looks like it'll shyly peek out from behind El Toro

Agreed it’s a bit disappointing, hopefully whatever fills into Ka’s plot has a presence there (maybe a smaller top hat from an intamin multi launch? Please)

However, one thing this ride does exceptionally well is the framing when walking into the boardwalk for the first time. The tower is positioned to be straight ahead while walking on the diagonal pathway where the first games are. It’s incredibly imposing, as seen from colliwood’s Instagram post

Wonder why it’s taking them so long to put out an announcement date. Guessing it’s BOF and Wave Swinger holding everything up, which is odd because those shouldn’t really be taking this long

One of my biggest problems with the "Ka replacement" moniker hss always been the untenable expectations on it.

What defines a "Ka replacement"? Another Strata that has absolutely nothing but height and speed to claim to?

My hot take is Ka and Dragster both were just slightly glorified Superman The Escape/Tower of Terror. None of them actually did anything interesting.

In my opinion, Project Purple is "Ka's Replacement" in terms of the niche of a "giant extreme launched coaster".

I'd rather a full circuit giga or a long well themed family coaster in Ka's place.

If you want my infinite money cheat/no limits wish? The one thing that hasn't been done: A CONVENTIONAL Strata (slow/moderate launched lift hill is fine if a chain is untenable) with a massive layout.

Yeah, the semantical game re "ka replacement" or not has been tiresome, with the park fighting it for PP. I get it from their perspective, but it's just so trivial. The new coaster is the replacement, it just wasn't planned to literally replace it at the time it was conceived. But long-term, it is. They are NOT, repeat NOT, going to built another 300-400' launch coaster next to PP. I'm sure behind the denials are plans for something "extreme" to replace the "spirit" of the kind of ride Ka was, like a Tormenta or some other record-breaking gimmick coaster. I don't think they keep going out of their way to refute the "ka replacement" description just so they can put a family woodie or Vekoma on Ka's old plot. I'd say one of those, which we could sorely use in the park lineup, goes either over part of Ka/Rolling Thunder's plot not used by what they ultimately put there, or, on the Right Stuff/Go Carts area bookending Flash at the entrance.

I don't know much about the park layout, but from what I can see, what can really fit in such a narrow and long layout? I feel like Ka's plot would have been great for a coaster similar to Jersey Devil or Flash but not another full sized coaster like Ka. Sure Project Purple could have been built on Ka's layout. Looks like the length is damn there the same, but outside of what Project Purple offers, or what the Zamperla 500 foot model offers, I don't see a huge coaster going on that plot.

I also want to say this. I rode Ka twice. Once in 2017-2018 and again in 2022. It was great, but I don't miss it at all. I'm always perplexed at those who hate Project Purple, but love Ka. My personal opinon.

Lastly, this coaster I've been following from the start. Sadly enough, my grandmother was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I enjoy how this coaster has found a way to support a cause, one in which I never found myself focused on.

Can't wait to ride it.

I expect the tilt rumors are likely for the next major coaster.

I haven’t heard any concrete rumors about a tilt coming to great adv, but it does seem like the next obvious major addition.

2028 is believed to be the parks new drop tower. Tbh I could totally see the park taking an off year but if not the drop tower would probably round out the boardwalk overhaul and then they can move onto the next phase.

After 2028 it gets to be hard to predict because you never know what attraction models come around but with Six Flags and Vekoma seemingly having a very good relationship I think both the tilt and family lim are realistic candidates for maybe 2030.

Honestly there’s no way to really predict what will happen, a lot of it is dependent on how this new ride does. Attendance getting a boost this year gives me hope that with a major new coaster the park can cement itself as a major candidate for development in the chain.

I don’t think an off year is an option for the park right now, nor do I think it’s something they’re even considering. Excluding 2020, it’s been quite a while since the park didn’t get some form of noteworthy investment, whether it was a new ride or an overhaul of an existing attraction. Even 2024 had the Giant Wheel’s refurbishment and the (not even half assed in hindsight) log flume refurbishment.

If I’m not mistaken, the park’s last fully off year was 2010. A park right between the most and 6th most populous cities in the country, both being roughly an hour away, needs that kind of investment. Not everything has been a hit (really looking at Zumanjaro, El Diablo, and Cyborg here), but I think this is a park where, at least for the next few years, it’s absolutely crucial to have something new to advertise.
