News Project 2027/Purple: Delayed “World Record Breaking Coaster" (Phantom Spire?)

I decided to hop on Photoshop with the photo @ski4ever5 provided to try and make a mockup of what a possible full circuit layout would look like using what we've already seen with construction. I made a key on the right to denote what the colors mean. There's a chance everything I've marked here could end up being inaccurate, so take everything with a grain of salt.

I find the construction in the parking lot interesting, and how we haven't seen anything happen in the Ka plot (where the orange is scribbled) yet. It's the main reason why I'm really starting to think that this is going to be a full circuit coaster, since they could use that area for a return track as I've marked in the image. Either that, or they're saving that area and the entire area where Rolling Thunder/Zumanjaro's queue used to be to add another big coaster in the future.

A big reason why alot of speculation for a coaster in Rolling Thunder's plot of land would get shot down was due to Zumi's queue taking up that area, but with that ride now gone, I wonder if the possibility of seeing something in that area is now back on the table.

Update: I went on Superman and saw there’s actually two rows of holes in the parking lot section, here’s a more accurate rough drawing

Interesting... the two rows of holes could indicate some kind of inversion (upside down launch?) or hill. It definitely seems like it will bend slightly towards the parking area that is fenced off.

@RDL , one of the things I really like about your mock-up is how it only utilizes space that has already been cleared. Keeping the existing pathways intact in the Golden Kingdom area could provide a lot of future options. It would be a shame to see those go to waste entirely.

The days of drop towers being attached to coaster supports may well be over at this point, but a drop ride dispatching not too far from the old Ka entrance would be fairly easy to get to, especially with the freshly paved path from El Toro they put in last year...

It's fun to dream.

In all seriousness, this definitely shakes things up. This, with a lot of certainty, rules out the exact model we saw in the survey. It could still be the same model, but maybe they've just added more of a pronounced turn entrance into the stall. Whatever they end up going with, I hope they at least keep the launched zero-g stall element. Truthfully, that's such a sick element. Super feasible and also super marketable (world's first upside down launch, world's largest zero-g stall, etc.). I'd see it as a win.

what going on with golden kingdom, after they put up construction fences for golden kingdom, its like they keeping that way, I guess they keeping it for phase 2 of the new golden kingdom area or maybe they could reopen the area with a new show in the old temple of the tigers building

As far as I know, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre maze is still fully intact in that structure (no real reason for them to have taken anything down, that housing wouldn't have been utilized for another purpose unless they were really pressed for indoor storage for some reason). I would expect the entrance/exit paths to both stem from the Plaza Del Carnaval side of the park if they want to open it again.

From that aerial image, it definitely does look like the rest of the Golden Kingdom buildings are still standing.

It really makes me wonder whether it’ll be themed to the boardwalk, or the Golden Kingdom then. The entrance could really be at either but unless they’re committed to a full-scale upgrade of the boardwalk area, it probably makes more sense from almost every perspective to have it be tied to the Golden Kingdom, I’d think.

The curve seems to make it a possibility, assuming we're reading the footer plans correctly; the main thing we would probably have to see IMO is a trench for where the track would have dropped into the ravine before the spire.

I don’t think that layout really aligns with the footers we’ve seen, plus that would cut way into the parking lot based on the direction the footers are going right now.

It really doesn't look like the DrachenSpire layout.

I am starting to believe this design was in the works before the Kingda Ka decision was made. It looks like a custom design for the park that was designed to go over the emergency access road and not interfere with Kingda Ka's site.

If it was, I feel like the chances of this being the 300+ foot Mack spinning launched coaster is lower because it wouldn’t make too much sense to have that next to Ka.

Agreed. I don’t think this project was meant to be something that coexisted with Kingda Ka. I also agree, I do not think what we’re seeing here is DrachenSpire.

I overlayed the Drachen Spire plans onto the plot in Photoshop a couple days ago. I didn’t save the image, but what I can say for certain is that it wouldn’t work.

Why is Drachen Spire even a conversation? It was a custom layout designed to fit into a very specific plot of land with very specific terrain. Only way it would work is if it was heavily modified, which at that point SF might as well buy a fully custom layout

I did say it was a dumb question

The other thing that crosses my mind is that it's not that unusual for parks/chains to buy and/or modify various ride project plans from each other - one may spend the money on getting the basics put together before going a different route, the other now has the opportunity to pay less for the same project as much of the preliminary work had been done.
