I love to see the ride be rethemed to birds to fit in with the future retheme of half of boardwalk to golden kingdom 2.0
see i think the best move forward is to double-down on the boardwalk as a jersey shore themed section. i love when parks have region-specific areas (like Steeler Country or the Pine Barrens area) and you could get so much out of a well done boardwalk seciton and bring it to life with a bit stronger theming, and tying the coasters and rides into that theme.

once again i think one of the big issues with replacing Ka with a similar-designed tower/shuttle is it draws attention back to the loss of KK. going back to what i said last week, from a GP perspective sure the new ride will be cool, but at the same time, it just kind of looks like a nerfed KK that's slower and not a "real roller coaster" because its a shuttle.

Taking some things from what other here and elsewhere have brought up, they should re-theme the boardwalk to an aerospace theme "Edward's Air Force Base". The new coaster could be called "The Right Stuff" or "Mach 1" and be themed to the training pilots do, since it's likely a spinning coaster it could be like the centrifuge they use to test tolerance for high G-forces. Put a tilt coaster in the rest of Green Lantern's plot and call it "The Great American Scream Machine". Replace Superman and the go karts with a B&M wing coaster, theme it to an F-16 and call it "Viper". You can even have part of it go over the entry midway like Gatekeeper at Cedar Point and use the old simulator building as the station. Put in a sit down restaurant and bar and call it the Officers Club. Put in an observation tower and call it the Control tower and have a drop ride attached to it called "Shockwave". Have a gift shop called Edwards Air Force Base HQ.

So based on ARCM's last two videos, this is the footer progress as of yesterday. I would imagine until the park closes in November, they aren't going to do anything beyond the curved fenceline to maintain parking lot access through that road. So it may turn out that footer progress this fall is what we see now and due to temperatures by the park closing in late November, they don't move on beyond the fenceline to the final footers and tower footers until next March/April. Which would be frustrating for us pining for tangible signs of progress.

They’re definitely creeping up on that fenceline. Assuming we stay in a straight line here, I’d guess that they won’t do any of the tower footings until after the park closes for the season since those will cut further into the road. We’ll also see that road rerouted as well, assuming the straight-line theory is true.

I just can't see a last 100' curve back over to the right to near where the Ka tower was. The marked trees straight ahead of the line we currently see being laid out sure seems like where things are going and, logically, where the track will end at a tower. And that would make for a track from station to tower longer than Ka's, for what that's worth.

this is such a funny hobby how does liking thrill rides lead to getting hype over pouring concrete

I had this same thought a couple of weekends ago. I would have experienced major FOMO if I missed the once in a lifetime opportunity to... View a wasteland of holes, rebar, and concrete.

That feeling hit again during the Kingda Ka part raffle. 6 of the items in the raffle were deformed, rusty bolts that could have been refuse from absolutely any construct. They'd be thrown away without a moment's hesitation if discovered without context in one's home by an unknowing family member. Yet, nothing in the world felt like a more essential acquisition.

I mean, there's thoosies and then there's that.

I guess it is cool to have maybe a functional art piece made from the ruins of a former ride (bottle opener?) - I believe some parks have done that with their woodies, or something recognizable as part of the ride such as a sign, or wheels, or something like that. But yeah, why the hell would I pay for a rusted bolt?

^ To be fair, it wasn't a paid raffle; everyone was given a set of tickets during the event that they could allocate between the 6 bolts and 4 train wheels. It struck me as something the park threw together as a late bonus with pieces they had found during construction in the weeks before (the wheels may have been the green train's up-stop wheels, which got removed for the upcoming Jackson Day display of the train's lead car).

To the delight of my family, I came back home that day with none of those items.

So you guys think this project takes a hiatus in the winter or keeps going? Not going to be many updates after next month. I mean, after the footers are done, there's not much left they can do. Track and supports will be contingent on scheduling the giant crane, at which point it will go up in two seconds to save on rentals.

Winter break due to temps, but hopefully all the footers get poured before that happens at the end of the season Nov/Dec. The wait on putting the steel up won't be the crane, it'll be when they decide to ship the ride based on the tariff situation at the moment. So it could happen in any 2-3 month period since that's been about the term of each tariff threat/enaction/waiver. I think their original plan was to have it on site this fall or early next year. Likely they're thinking spring at earliest. Once here they'll probably work quickly to get it up given how much time they'll have lost to import price watching.

Concrete will likely be done by the end September, easily. I think you're right that the track/supports will be heavily dependent on what the tariff situation is at any given moment. If it seems like Germany/US are coming to the table about those, SF may wait a bit longer to see if they get sorted out more in their favor.

Well it looks like they're at the end of the fencing now with the current footers and they don't have tower footers dug yet and no space left for them there. So if they're going past the fence line to the marked trees beyond for the tower, they won't do that til after they close for the season in Nov and can close off that access road from the safari lot for removal. So those footers may get done before it gets too cold. Or it might be first thing in the spring. ✌️
