They would have used that to support sales I would think, and not a surprise.
Carowinds need a dry park water ride and I don't think RipQurl would work for that

Yeah they have a waterpark, it's just that they need a water ride outside of the waterpark, like a log flume.
Cancelling the flume ride thing at this point would be a monumentally stupid move—just lighting tons of money on fire for seemingly no reason.
Is it delayed? Maybe? Still can't really tell. But I'd be shocked if it weren't still comin' at some point soon.

I’m completely spitballing, but is it maybe possible it’s moved to another park? That’s the only way I could imagine it being “cancelled” without them just wasting money. I know there’s still the money they put into prepping the site, but that’s something theyd have to do no matter what for the rapids site.
Isint a construction site prepped specifically for that 1 thing you planned to build? Redoing that would be a huge waste of money already to re prep and move certain holes ect for something completly new
The big, already incurred expenses relate mainly to the design and procurement work in addition to the costs related to all the approval processes they've already gone through with the municipality. Additionally, they're almost certainly already under contract for the ride hardware and have contractors signed for the actual construction. Contracts could be unwound and the ride hardware could be shipped elsewhere, but doing so wouldn't be cheap.

No way you're THIS anxious and hype for a water ride
The park dragged their feet when it came to demolition, land clearing, and construction of Racing Railway & River Raft Blast. Corporate announced the ride already, and Carowinds revealed the rendering of the exact ride in a survey. If you look up "Carowinds 2026" you can find what the ride looks like quickly.
They're timing the rendering reveal and marketing push strategically to boost pass sales at a later date, or don't plan on opening the attraction in 2026.

WhiteWater is set for this year’s IAAPA Expo, with the company bringing four booths to the 2025 show in Orlando.
Booth #2637 is for Water Rides, where two full-size vehicles destined for major upcoming installations will be on display. Attendees can climb aboard for photos and talk with the team about how water-based amusement rides can bring unique narratives to life for memorable experiences worth sharing.

WhiteWater will not announce the log flume before Six Flags does. We might hear a tidbit about the sale but they will not say anything on Six Flags’ behalf.
