What is the source that "we know" the Six Flags Mexico coaster is next year?

It seems very plausible that the 7 new coasters for 2025 includes their two delayed projects (and that's why they weren't specifically mentioned in the press release). If the SFMM and SFM projects were on the typical Six Flags delayed construction schedule, Zimmerman might have come in and said no, we aren't doing that any more and delayed them to 2026 so they open with the parks "on time."

I was under the impression Mexico's tilt was already being teased for an announcement. If not, maybe it has been pushed too? If it has, that definitely lends credence to the idea that SFMM's would be too.

Back in July, they released a statement saying that they were changing their plans to accommodate environmental requests (different location for coaster). They also mentioned it was a 25th anniversary project which corresponds with 2025. That being said, if they are having to pivot plans and survey and permit for a different site - it's plausible that delay was incurred that pushed the potential opening mid/late-season 2025.

EDIT: They have been teasing an announcement 8/22. The latest one featured Cyborg and the previous one featured Harley Quinn. Unclear if related to a new ride or something else (Fright Fest related, given the tone of the teasers?)

So it seems like Hurricane Harbor, right next to Magic Mountain, is at least getting additions next year - per that business wire article:

I don't know how it equates with the rumored prototype coaster project, but it is worth considering that even if it does not happen next year, Magic Mountain is not going without any new stuff...

The rumors about a Vekoma suspended motorbike coaster seemed pretty damn compelling, but Six Flags listing this as the "first-of-its-kind in North America" sorta throws a wrench into that unless there's some wild suspended motorbike coaster internationally that we're expecting to open sooner....?

I mean if this is an Axis Coaster then Fuck yeah! But I’m expecting this to be Vekoma

I think in hindsight, SFOT getting the Giga-Dive is the better call.

It gives them a landmark attraction that puts them on the map in a way that is modern and new, and if it counters what Daredevil Dive does and opts to be more "Inversion" heavy, I think it'll be a fun time. At that same time, SFMM needs something to combat USH and Hollywood Drift, and I think having a weird coaster is going to help as opposed of playing safe.

I would love it if they went for 300 feet and had like 5/6 inversions
