if disney never bought blue sky studios in the first place, this would been a perfect opportunity for the ride to be themed to rio

anyways, here a quote from arrested development in honour of the news:

“We are thrilled that fans celebrate when even a piece of track received at the park elicits excitement, as we saw with a recent delivery of support beams. We look forward to sharing details and progress updates soon. There is so much more to come,” a park spokesperson said in a statement to KTLA.

“To ensure the coaster meets our high standards of innovation, thrills and safety that you expect and deserve, we have revised the timeline to 2027.” Literally copy and paste from Great Adventure's email to passholders about the record breaking launch coaster lol. How long until Carowinds decides to follow suit? I wish corporate would just come out and announce the status of every 2026 project they "announced" last November. It's one thing to delay projects due to budget/permitting concerns, but it's another thing to promise a huge investment year a year and a half out only to have to delay most of the planned projects. Not to mention Montezooma at Knotts literally going on 3 years now and not a peep from the park or corporate about it!

Disappointing to see this delayed, but not really surprising given the current state of the project. I suspect they could still have opened the ride in the second half of 2026 if they chose to do so, but Six Flags corporate decided to postpone as a spring 2027 debut probably markets better than fall 2026.
