Obviously it’s a kid so who knows but anyone heard anything that could confirm this? Verbolten going back down for the season in September to finish the overhaul? I could see it, and then them trying to have it back up in time for Christmastown

Can confirm that the ride will be continuing the renovation in the late august, early september area. I believe the hope is that it will be reopened for at least part of hollow-scream. Darkoaster will also be closing for a month for a short train renovation Aug 10. As far as verbolten goes, I know they hope to fix the fog that broke during testing, and add more branches between the transition into the helix (you can actually see the supports for this when the lights are on in the building). I believe they are touching up the all the sequencing and finishing up the audio for the 4 vertical drop audios. The four audios are:
Fine, I'll save you, but you have to give me five stars!
I told you I wouldn't save you, But I will save my car!
I told you I wouldn't save you, But the insurance is in my name!
I told you I wouldn't save you, But I just paid off the car! (I think)
Would've been nice to get all of this done beforehand and heres to the hope that they add the curtain between vertical drop and launch 1!

3D effects and animatronics are usually an improvement on a ride.

The wires are too obvious on the trees. The drop track doesnt feel as immersive as it did with the 2-D cut outs. The trees are sparse and one can see outside the drop track.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that we’re all a bit more likely to see the tricks and be less immersed bc we saw the plans and know exactly what each thematic piece looks like. Of course we’ll see the wires on the trees, we know they’re there. If you know there’s a giant glass wall in front of you during the ballroom scene at the haunted mansion, you’ll see that too

I rode it last week with a friend that visits every few years. They said that they thought it was better then it was when the ride first opened.

Rode the ride myself for the first time, flew with other tech guys to visit the park to get a good view on how they did the sequencing for the ride. Here’s what I could gather, I also found a comment that answered a lot of questions for me that I will put below.

it appears they improved a LOT since the opening of the ride but after the huge touch up the programmers did a few weeks ago the ride has already fallen out of sync. Several bugs, issues, and new things were spotted.

It’s unclear whether or not the new effects are using a new triggering system or if they are using the old one, or if the entire thing is time coded. I would assume the sign at the beggining is not tied to the old system, unless the dispatch itself starts the ride sequence. (There would have to be multiple sequences programmed because of the block zone just before the first turn, which may explain some of the out of sync sequences).

The original 2d Black Forest leaves in the tunnel at the first launch have static lighting on them. From what we could pull from old lights on pov’s and archive footage, it looks like they stripped the old black light strobes completely out and replaced them with regular purple LED pars which unfortunately are not true black light therefore they bleed horribly into the walls, you can see the whole tunnel now which completely ruins the dark forest entrance. Since they actually do turn on and off during the sequence and don’t remain on until they turn the power off for the ride, these lights are patched using DMX, so they could at least do a simple Step or Fade FX to bring some of that old theming vibe back. Also a side note A LOT of the original theming is still in the building, for some reason they don’t want to illuminate them.

I see no reason why they had to remove the old 2d theming in the helix, if they were replacing it with something else then it would make sense, but from the blueprints it doesn’t look like the massive tree would have required the permanent removal of those original effects.

Light bleed is a whole new issue, I remember them saying that the original curtains were a problem, unfortunately the entire building is one room now so when your eyes fully adjust it really does get rid of the vibe.

They did NOT touch some of the original light fixtures, we spotted some that are still there powered off. Pointing at nothing.

The rides ORIGINAL SEQUENCE may still be running in the building and no that is not a joke. Apparently some of the original black lights are still blinking on cue, completely separate from the new effects.

The bridge saw the return of the original audio after a HEAVY HEAVY request from fans to bring it back. Then it stopped working after one week.

They removed the lightning after the track drop, which is awesome, but now there’s no voice.

Hopefully they can get that mist working. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they only programmed those original 2d leaves in the tunnel to stay static because the mist would have blocked the view of the inside from the outside, so why bother programming a light cue if riders won’t be able to see it behind the mist.

hopefully they can get all of the stuff fixed, the ride is definitely unfinished but it’s cool they are going to attempt to finally complete it!
