Via Disney Parks Blog:

To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!

That's quite the retheme for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

I've always liked Muppets for R'n'R so I'm not mad at this at all. I hope it's a substantial update though with some queue restructuring, an all-new preshow setup, new physical sets in the ride area, etc. and not just a slap-dash "it's Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with Muppets references."

Would also be a good time to switch out the trains with some of Vekoma's new vest trains if possible.

I think a retheme was way overdue and I can see how this is a good fit, it's just slightly odd for one of their more intense coasters. I know Muppets have a large adult fan base, maybe larger than kids at this point. Does anyone think the ride will be modified to reduce the height restriction? It looks to only be 48 though, so that isn't too bad by most parks, just higher for Disney.

I'm really hoping the ride gets new trains with vest restraints. This renovation would be pointless without it.

Ideally I'd rather have a system similar to RRR where you get to choose your own music. Disney owns a massive back catalogue of music and it would be nice if they took advantage of that. I'll miss Aerosmith, but I can see why Disney is choosing to go with something that would be a bit more relevant to most people.

Just don't go cheap with this renovation

I am usually the first one to vouch for Eisner-era Disney tomfoolery and blindly support a ride becoming a Muppets theme, but for some reason, this one doesn't click for me. I could be in the minority here. Maybe the Paris renovation biased my brain to how cool a possible ACDC & Iron Man rework could be (I know, gross, IP ride, but its HS its the one park where I am okay with it). But part of me also harbors a lot of nostalgia for the Aerosmith portion of this ride, I used to marathon this thing as a teen as like the "cool coaster" at Disney. I suppose since then they have a lot more "cool rides" to offer.

Do the music well, do the theming well. Have it be real music featuring Muppets if possible, and keep an Aerosmith song in the loop for reference. RRR style choices would be ideal, just don't know if they would do that investment. I suppose if they do a good job I can get on board with this.

Hot take: I sorta think Disney needed to announce this honestly. It's a really major, core part of what makes the current iteration of the ride, the ride. People were expecting the coaster, in its current form, to be open through the end of this season. Feels pretty shitty to have such a major, iconic element ripped away before that without warning.
