Every time one of these MK threads has a new post I get a glimmer of hope that they’ve announced that some of the river will be preserved after all.

I know I’m setting myself up for disappointment, but a man can dream…

It’s amazing though there are people on Facebook who go as far as knocking whoever presents an idea for preserving or rerouting the rivers. “Oh, the island is a waste of space, that land isn’t suitable, you have no idea what you’re talking about!” Log into Facebook

Going back to the Big Thunder project, I was surprised from the very start of this at just how fast they are retracking it. In fact people on WDWMagic are believing “they’re gonna do this as fast as they can” and at this point it might as well be finished early, like by the end of this year (their beliefs not mine). Could that actually happen, or is it still firmly in 2026 that this reopens?

Me too but sadly it's just not going to happen. At least that's what I keep telling myself so I don't end up disappointed.

At this rate, anything is possible, but I'm sure it just seems like its moving quickly right now due to it being mainly deconstruction and the easy to install out door pieces of track being installed. Once they have to focus more on the indoor sections, I'm sure it will be much more challenging causing the project to slow way way down. I could be wrong though.

Hey friends,

New update for Big Thunder Mountain as of 3-29-25! Here’s what I noticed:

  • The queue line has some new cinderblocks being stored and what looks to be scaffolding waiting to be set up for additional work.
  • Even more scaffolding can be seen from the Liberty Belle for the main ride area. The track that was installed in the last update is now under tarps to protect it from work going on around the area.
  • New track has also been added in this area.
  • Part of one of the lift hills and the lead up to it seems to be fully installed.

Sadly the train was closed when I arrived to the park so I was unable to get an up close look but as I now plan on doing weekly updates. Please let me know if there’s anything in particular you would like to see!

Saw it from the train on Sunday and was quite impressed. Don't have the photos/videos accessible right now but I'll return to post them later. Also saw this from backstage when staging for DDA Parade, and (NOTE - I AM NOT UNDER ANY FORM OF NDA REGARDING THIS) saw a bunch of track and some small theming elements (barrels, lanterns, etc) around the area. Also saw the place where the maintenance building had been. They've started foundation work for the new structure there. Of course I don't have any photos of anything backstage

Is this possibly for a new dynamite explosion scene like CA/Paris or just general theming?

Track (apparently) is now complete and they've been doing pull-through testing. I guess it's a matter of time until new trains show up?
