You had me until the last line.
I'd think a Mack launch in the vein of copperhead strike more likely.
The more time that passes the more I lean to Vekoma being the perfect manufacturer to replace Volcano (since we basically know it won't be Intamin). Mack launches are too weak (at least domestically) and B&M coasters, while great on their own, are just nowhere near the spirit of what Volcano was and I don't think fills much of a gap. Vekoma (and possibly S&S) I think have the best portfolio of options to put something together that really goes a long way of filling the void of Volcano. I was really in on the Axis thing but the more I think about it, something like F. L. Y. might be the absolute best thing you can put there. The one thing that S&S might have over Vekoma (even though they're the same company) is that Draves does a lot of design for them and I think his creations also really have that super intense mixed with an incredible grace feeling that Volcano had.

That’s not fair, that was a prototype that never should have been put in a park

Plus, the S&S of today isn’t the same S&S of 2001 that built Hypersonic. Different philosophy, ownership, etc. It’s like saying Dollywood shouldn’t work with Vekoma for Big Bear Mountain because they used to make SLCs.

Not to mention that KD literally just worked with S&S in building Tumbili.

Since everyone is stuck on it being a spiritual replacement for Volcano, we really need to look at any company that can do a low capacity, short coaster with multiples of the same inversion. I think a Sky Rocket II would be perfect.

Volcano had lower capacity, especially in its latter years with rows tied off.

So now that we know no ride hardware for next year is confirmed, I mean what are the odds anything too significant is happening for 2023? I mean if they were going to change the name of a newer roller coaster at a significant scale in BLSC wouldn't they have announced this at least? I don't quite know where this thread goes now unless were just speculating what could be very minor park improvements for 2023 or does this just become Project 2024?

The main thing we now need to look out for is the quote announcements on their own forum/marketing (I can’t think of the name) page, because that’s where we learned about the food changes and more about Jungle X in the middle of winter. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what we see happen again.

I thought KD used their Facebook page for the clues and Jungle X-pedition highlights from this past January till early March.

I don't think they would have. The chain wide announcements were for major investments. Restaurant and ride renovations are rarely announced at the same time unless they're part of a much larger capital expenditure (see: new Knott's or Caro lands).

It would seem odd to announce a change of a ride that is currently open with no plans to close this season. Makes more sense to announce in the winter or spring after it’s actually closed down for the season.
We don't know if BLSC needs to close early or not.

**IF** KD decides to proceed with a Jungle X Phase II for 2023 and it involves a theme makeover for BLSC, then the park could do that after Haunt is over, during the off-season.

If the re-theme is more involved, then KD could shut the ride down right after say Labor Day weekend. There is no major advance notice to a ride closure. They could say the week before LDW that get your last rides for the season on BLSC before it shuts down for 2022.

I am pretty sure if KD expands JX for next year, most of what I could perceive happening for 2023 could be done in the off-season. Just not sure about BLSC based on the level of thematic overhaul they want to do.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t wait until after Haunt to start work. Its a re-theme, if they are actually doing it, and shouldn’t take too many weeks to complete.

It depends on the extent of the re-theme, if it happens.

While the park is working on Grizzly for 2023, will we still see further updates to JX like rethemed rides and additional touches? Even after Haunt I still haven't heard anything going on at Backlot.

Good question. And I think this is where year round operations are going to negatively impact parks. Sure it can slow the loss of revenue but it hurts the freedom of construction getting done.

I’d fear that KD might lose momentum if there is a phase II and they put it off because there could always be “something else” to do in the park.
