Wasn't there a circular rock structure in the middle of the queue? I wouldn't be surprised if that has some sort of "eruption" effect every so often. Like orange lights, a rumbling sound effect, and maybe smoke. They'll lean into Volcano somehow
There’s some kind of shrine-esque structure with fire in the concept videos

This is an interesting description of the Rapterra ride experience from the Pass Perks page... 👀
I will say the front end of the queue in the render has zero theming IMG_5852.jpeg
The area which just so happens to be where the volcano/mountain used to stand

In the immersive backstory it specifically states the ground surrounding the magma chamber collapsed, not the ground above, not the magma chamber itself nor into the magma chamber, but just the ground surrounding it IMG_6346.jpeg
I know I’m delusional as fuck and I know it’s unrealistic but it would add a good bit of near misses to it and they have already done a wing coaster through an artificial mountain in china. Plus honestly it may have simply been cheaper to rebuild it than to keep it when demolishing volcano because of how intertwined the supports were.

Does anyone know the ballpark numbers on what Rapterra cost to build? Reviewing the previous US wings I’ve seen estimates for X-Flight at $12-15M, Wild Eagle at $20M, Thunderbird at $22M, and Gatekeeper at $30M. Now we’ve had a 10+ year gap between Thunderbird and Rapterra which makes me think Rapterra is ~$24M. If it’s in the $25M+ range it’s possibly the most expensive coaster KD has ever built as I think that’s the range 305 is in which it very well could be up there which would make sense for an attraction replacing something as iconic as Volcano.

This being said I’m not sure if B&M has figured out ways to reduce cost for their rides, they clearly figured out a way to make the dive model more economical for parks in the last 10 years.

Sheesh Gatekeeper was $30 million?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Rapterra hit 30. I wish CF/Six Flags still provided cost estimates for coasters. Announcing the cost with the ride only served to make stakeholders uncomfortable so I guess I see why they’d stop. It used to be a form of bragging but I don’t see in this day and age anyone deciding to invest in SF stock because SF spent a lot of money in one place.

I know this is a pipe dream, but I'd LOVE to see this open before the end of the year. Probably not gonna happen, but if it did it would be amazing.

If KD wanted to sell extra passes, a late 2024 sneak peak for 2025 pass holders would be a smart move.

Disagree. Massively separating previews from a formal debut suppresses overall hype for the attraction. Even when BGW has had three or four weeks of previews I've noticed this effect. I think previews are a good thing, but they must be done in moderation as to not spoil the grand debut hype.

Why have an unfinished product serve as a first impression? They have a timeline planned out, I’d rather wait until they are ready to present the full picture.

Its presence builds up hype just by being there. I hope more parks prioritize finishing track work the season before because seeing it in person is a way more effective marketing tactic than seeing a news article about it.
