Breaking: KD signs epic deal with the Trolls franchise and Lynyrd Skynyrd for the resurrection of volcano, now with onboard audio.
I’m just saying the lynyrd skynyrd deal does make sense to retrain that part of the market they might lose with the lost of the dale branding on i305

It’ll actually be themed to Surfin’ Bird by The Trashmen. Just this song blasting endlessly in the queue and plaza.

>Roll into the launch tunnel
>projector turns on starts playing this

>Huh, that's odd. I thought that would be big news.
>You thought what would be big news?
>Well, there seems to be an absence of a certain ornithological piece. A headline regarding mass awareness of a certain avian variety.
>What are you talking about?
Oh, have you not heard? It was my understanding that everyone had heard...
>Heard what?
>Brian, don't!

>Doors open on the launch tunnel

Surfin bird starts playing
“Everybody’s heard, about the bird”
>launch as the song hits the bird bird bird part

Kings dominion, please. Hire me.

This song is a works way better, could you imagine if you used free bird as the sound track, the song is 7 minutes long I don’t think we’re seeing near enough feet of track on the drawings to for it time up good.

Wow it really is almost go-time!!

Also an update: As of this past weekend, and thanks to some awesome locals (don't know if they want to be named or the pictures shared, so I'll leave it out) that drove by the Clermont plant in Ohio, we both could not see any new track or supports that could be for this ride. There are few pieces of primed track in their storage backlot, but most visible track is the same un-painted, un-primed track that's been sitting in Clermont's road-facing front lot since August.

So we're still on hardware watch, but it can't be much longer now though if they've got staging fences up!

Only thing Im wondering about is why they’re starting so early, other B&M coasters seem to take about 5-6 months from initial piles to completed coaster meaning they could be done by August/September. I wonder if it’s just extra time for theming or getting everything perfect or if they would possibly open it during Halloween

or if they would possibly open it during Halloween
Yeah, no shot. My guess is that they expedited the construction of the footers in the paths & plazas, that way most of those work walls could come down before the main summer season starts. But now seeing the staging area go up, it might just be the production schedule of B&M/Clermont warrants an early delivery.

I would almost being willing to bet the major slow down the construction industry is experiencing right now might be resulting in companies to be able to start sooner and dedicate more man power to this then they thought when they submitted there bids and timelines. They may have had a very realistic time lines in place and they just happen to be moving at an exponential pace.

Edit I want to add I do not think it will be sustainable and I doubt it will effect the end date much if at all, I think we might see an explosion of work then long periods of nothing.

Getting done early creates the uncomfortable guest experience of having a non-operating new ride for guests to constantly see. SEAS handled there situation poorly during COVID, and it's hard to envision KD doing much better.

I's possible that they're intending to build up a lot of theming around the ride after it's in place. Which is why the ride itself might be completed earlier than we expected.

Really early construction times for coasters are fairly commonplace, just not at regional parks in this part of the world. Intamin for example has in recent years built Gotham City Escape, Toutatis, and Mahuka an extra offseason/spring ahead of the scheduled opening, all similarly sized projects. Toutatis at Parc Astérix was particularly jarring because guests arrived for seasonal opening in March 2022 to find much of the coaster already built, even though it wouldn't be ready for another year. The extra time allowed these parks to not only commission but highly theme their attractions with warmer working conditions to help. Plus they then had the offseason to focus more on routine maintenance without juggling the logistics of a construction project. Given the extravagant queue design for King's Dominion's new coaster, they're certainly looking to add this level of theming (atmospheric, in between Six Flags and Disney/Universal).

Usually seeing a major new ride actively under construction will only fuel guest anticipation. SeaWorld left those completed rides as lawn ornaments for two years with poor communication, which didn't inspire the same sentiment among locals.

B&M (and their fabricators) seem to be especially busy right now. Better to get it early than late...
This, along with the intent of theming like others have stated, ANDDDDD the other projects going on around the park. What I am assuming is gonna be for 2025, P305 still needs to be re-themed and whatever in the world is going on with go carts. And with it being their 50th I also assume there's still other park improvements and decoration they are gonna wanna do in the off season to get ready for such. So yeahhhh I see the need to get a move on with things.
