Here's something interesting. This is the length from the turn into the safety brake to the footers supporting the immelmann. It is approximately 517 feet long.

The line in this view over the Volcano plot is the same length in feet.

Looks like a launch track the length of Thunderbird's could fit in this plot! This assumes the station and brakes are near the blue dot, and the first element after the launch is near the red dot. I think the 2019 leak planned for the station to be close to Flight of Fear as well. EDIT: all measurements in Google Earth Pro.

The issue is if you’re reusing the queue building from volcano, that’s a very long queue if the station is near FoF.

I personally don't think the station will be that far back. Would be an odd walk back there, unless a whole fill-in of the area is included. But I agree, the placement here will be really interesting, specifically considering the location of the storage shed. This was the setup I always imagined:

But the problem here is that there needs to be a service road connecting to the storage building (red), so trains can be craned on/off.

So maybe it's something like this?

Anyone considered the possibility that the layout could expand outside of the old Volcano site? There's lots of area towards Hungry Hippo and Tumbili.
I’m curious if they would launch back like Volcano used to and go in the space between the theater and Reptilian, out to Dominators turnaround and back.

They could also go over FoF’s launch track since that part of the building is short. That opens up the possibility of extending all the way back parallel to i305, with service roads already constructed. Could return around the backside of FoF’s spaghetti bowl. A lot of land unused on that area that couldn’t really be used for anything else with how FoF and i305 box the paths in.

IF...we're reusing the queue building. I don't think they would reuse the old Volcano queue house assuming the station would be far back there. That building still has a purpose with the gift shop underneath.

In this case I imagine there would be a plaza surrounded by the ride, and the entrance would be in there so it would be a shorter walk to and from the station. I don't know what they'll do about the backstage area for LGW but I seriously doubt they would put it where it is now with knowledge that a big attraction is coming to this area and then relocate it later.

I also personally doubt the ride will cross over FoF or interact with its building in any way. There's already plenty of room on the Volcano plot of land.

Let's not forget that wing coaster stations are obviously wider than typical stations, so placement is going to be very interesting along with how B&Ms have a peculiar final brake layout.

EDIT: Oh and also, I personally HATE it when somebody decides to single out a tiny part of anything I say and take issue with it. Ignores the broad importance of anything I or someone else wants to bring to the table. And I'm tired of it.

That's me! I debated posting it here but wasn't sure it was appropriate😂

Top down here with Volcano included:

To clarify some things; I've had this layout sitting around for years, finally decided to polish it up and do a video. If I had made this recently, I'd probably change it entirely (mainly for the storage access reason I referenced a few posts up there^^) and to not encroach so close to the railroad tracks, but overall I'm super happy with this layout. It's probably too aggressive for modern B&M standards, but still marginally believable I feel.

I like getting the launch sorta parallel with Flight of Fear. Given that we know from the plans that there's a tunnel covering (most?) all of the launch, I could see that structure being a way to hide some of the blank, flat, corrugated, metal wall of Flight of Fear.

Agreed on hiding Flight of Fear as much as possible. However, I worry with the current price of steel and construction and Kings Dominion being considered a mid-tier Cedar Fair park that this wing coaster is going to be a short layout, similar to Dorney Park's Iron Menace (2,169 ft). Hopefully if it is a short layout, it will still pack a punch, be fun, have strong theming like Jungle X phase I, and high capacity.

For reference: Thunderbird at Holiday World cost $22 million in 2015 and is 3,035 ft. Wild Eagle at Dollywood cost $20 million in 2012 and is 3,127 ft. I do not see Cedar Fair spending much more than $20 million on this ride.

^I too would have expected a smaller scale Wing; maybe not Iron Menace short, more this scale. But I think that the fact we know this thing has a launch means that it won't just be some small/short ride. At least I hope. That launch probably isn't cheap, so there's got to be a reason it's present. I'm certainly not expecting a 160ft, 4,000ft long monster of a ride, but I think there's a chance it could be substantial.

Or it could be like Mandrill Mayhem.......

Noticed in one of the leaked images that the train storage building is to the right of the transfer track and safety brake. On wing coasters this building is on the outside of the turn into the safety brake instead of the inside like Dominator, so I think the track will make a right turn into the safety and transfer brakes like Thunderbird. I'm assuming that if the launch will be parallel to Flight of Fear then the station will be further away from the Volcano queue building and gift shop with this in mind. But that depends on how long the launch track will be.

Speaking of the transfer track and storage building appearing in the leak, does that rule out a shuttle wing layout? Mandrill Mayhem doesn't have those features.

^Agreed on the right turn theory. And yeah, the Mandrill Mayhem comment was a bit of a joke. Based on the sloped safety brake before the transfer table and (interestingly) the slightly inclined launch, this will definitely be a full circuit layout.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that the old queue will be reused. Maybe it's better to leave the shop down below and just leave it as a nice scenery piece?

They could even use the upper level of the old queue house for something cool, like an elevated lounge or bar. It would need an elevator added for ADA access, but it could be a really neat experience with nice views of the coaster.
The more I think about that, I don't think that is a bad idea to use the old Volcano queue. Imo that building does remind me a bit of a tiki bar.
