I like the name too. However I wonder how many people will readily pronounce it as `toom-bili`, as pointed out in today's announcement; vs something like `tumble-e`, which honestly at first glance is how I thought to pronounce it
.I also enjoy the continuity and attention to detail in terms of the name's origin... where the new land is Amazon-based (i.e. South America), but Swahili - which KD points as the name's origin - is traditionally African-based.
Honestly I don’t have a solid opinion on this addition. What I do have is a series of questions:
I was made aware months before today that this would be a shorter version of the 4D free spin, but why did Kings Dominion go with this option? Cheaper costs? Spacing?
How many cars will be on the ride given this layout? Dragon Slayer has two, but I can’t be sure for this one given KD is a larger park.
I’m not sure if the announcement directly touched on the relevance of the expedition posters and coordinates that everyone thought could mean certain parts of the area would be rethemed to those locations. Are these just past trips that Professor Whey took?

I am under the impression that this is the new standard model now due to all the issues that occurred with the Six Flags models.
Curious about this as well, since a friend confirmed that Dragonslayer was running 3 cars when they went. I'm wondering if they have a dual dispatch option similar to the Six Flags models or if it's just a single car station only. Either way I have concerns about the overall capacity of the ride.
I haven't seen any explanation of the teasers beyond "adventure-type places" which is a bit unfortunate. I really enjoy when hints build up to something you can actually work out, you know?
The KD Park Blog has been updated to reflect the main announcement with Tumbili, the new restaurant, and re-themed/overhauled gift shop. The park did state (and this is a rough paraphrase) "Like any Expedition, there are new discoveries to be found along the way. Stay tuned for further announcements."
So, I don't think today's reveal is the only thing happening for 2022 in the "Old" Safari Village. I think today was the "headliner" for the revamped area. It could be one or two existing rides get a themed makeover, maybe with a new name. Maybe even a smaller attraction will be added. I presume all of this is to maintain interest as we go through the rest of the season and off-season.

I’ve thought about this. Imagine the trains being like shipping crates from the expedition plane being shipped down from the plane(top of lift) to a cargo area (bottom station)
Given the animal diety temple theme of X, I really hope they stick with it moving forward.
There are any number of snakes that Avalanche could be rethemed to. The ride's station wouldn't be difficult to turn into a temple-like structure either.

Man I didn't even think of theming Avalanche to a snake! Then I remembered La Vibora and it makes so much sense.
I mean, there's already a snake themed coaster right there...
Eh, it can be different enough in my opinion. Especially if we assume Anaconda isn't that long for this world.
So, interesting thought experiment. Imagine this thing never leaked. No one had any rumors, no one had seen track sitting in the parking lot, no one had published leaks, etc. Imagine if we had gone through this entire year without knowing anything—just getting hyped by KD's teasers—and then today happened—KD announced a small, low-capacity, cloned 4D FreeSpin as the first coaster since the removal of Volcano.
As it is, people who are less looped in (randoms on KD's social pages) are not happy. The reception to this announcement isn't good in those circles. Imagine the wildfire that would be roaring on places like ParkFans and other enthusiast platforms if we didn't have any idea what was coming. It would be an absolute fallout zone.
My point here is don't let anyone ever tell you that leaks can't be a good thing. The fact that enthusiasts were prepared for the FreeSpin has allowed us to focus more on the positive aspects of the announcement—the lore, the rethemes, etc. Having the FreeSpin exposed long ago really benefited KD in this regard.

I always try to focus on the positives with new rides. I always ask myself "will this new attraction improve the overall value of going to this park?" and if the answer is yes then I am happy ultimately. I selfishly was rather displeased with Coconut Shores because there were no attractions for adults of any kind and I was salty Tornado got removed as well but it sounds like the general public is rather pleased with it and if it made the waterpark significantly nicer overall then that's awesome. I just don't have kids so obviously I am not going to either of the new water attractions until I have kids of my own or go with nieces and nephews. I have never ridden an S&S Free Spin and I am honestly significantly more likely to ride Tumbili on random visits than I was The Crypt.
So @Zachary should we keep that B&M Wing in mind for down the road or do you think KD will go in a different direction? For some reason "B&M Wing Coaster" has always sounded right in my head for KD. I honestly think it would be a strong addition to the ride lineup as well as I think KD needs more smooth but not like insanely intense and aggressive coasters with the OD top 2 it has. I think BGW excels in this category much more so than KD.

KD putting this much effort into a free spin and into Coconut Shores is a really good sign of things to come from the experience stand point. There have been very noticeable improvements in food offerings at the park this year, and CF investing further in that direction really is pushing KD into a different class of park than what it has been in years past.
The B&M wing coaster concept was completely scrapped over 2 years ago.
Yeah, definitely don't see the Wing happening. A ton has changed since those proposals were being drawn up.
Awesome thanks for confirming. I just kinda figured KD was about a new B&M but B&M wasn’t available at the time but I’m glad to know they’re considering other options from that smaller wing coaster.
Just for reference based on some of the comments I saw, I think a lot of folks are thinking this ride is the replacement for Volcano and not The Crypt and are thus upset about what appears to be a huge downgrade... Even though I'm sure if the park was able to keep Volcano until a replacement was ready to go they would have.
