I don’t think putting a few extra flats in an empty space is gonna turn the park into a “Six Flags America 2.0”. KD has a nice collection of rides and is a lot prettier than people give it credit for.

Okay bro do you really want a fucking super loop and slingshot combo to replace one of the most unique coasters ever?

If it’s a Phantasialand-esque flat that’s one thing but plopping unthemed rides in an empty plot is an eyesore and a waste of space.

First, there is not one Cedar Fair park I can think of with a superloop. Second, there's already a slingshot ride at KD so that's a nope. Third, most flats are not eyesores. There is plenty of enough space there for 2-3 flats with space in between each other to make it look nice. Not everything is going to be a groundbreaking coaster. Flats do not equal mediocre. In fact, delirium is the best flat I've been on (I haven't done Finnegan's Flyer yet).

Disagree with literally everything here. There’s also a superloop at Valleyfair.

Last I checked Valleyfair is nowhere close to the level of Cedar Fair's top parks. CP, KI, KD, CGA, nor CW would ever get a superloop. I will die on that hill.

If Xtreme Skyflyer is being referred to as a Slingshot, it's not. It's a Skycoaster, they're two entirely different experiences and multiple parks in the US (and even internationally) have both operating with no affect on business for either.

Oof. Me bad. Still though, highly doubt CF would put that at KD. I will literally come back here, apologize, and delete my account if it does.

LOL, you would think the "Volcano Goes Extinct" thread would quiet down once the dirt field has been there for a couple of weeks.

So... What about moving the scrambler into a building constructed on this site with another flat or two in the same area (or a really small coaster of some sort for the kiddos)? That would open up the scrambler spot for something else maybe... Small outdoor amphitheatre?

Or they could bring back a piece of the old Safari animal exhibits in this space?

Shockwave was unique at the time of its demise, and in my opinion Delirium is a tremendous improvement.

I think the idea that flat rides can’t be a worthy replacement to a coaster, or be aesthetically integrated into an attractive landscape is false. I think a coaster is a more likely replacement for Volcano, but I certainly wouldn’t complain if the park wanted to balance out the coaster-heaviness of Safari Village.

Personally, my biggest concern is that Volcano’s replacement boosts the area’s appearance and theme, whatever that may be.

That’s literally my point. If it’s a flat ride package it needs to be a unique and themed experience. Just plopping some carnival rides on that plot is an insult.

My gut feeling is this site is for a 2021 or 2022 attraction. If CF/KD goes with a "highly themed" attraction(s) in this area, that requires themed structure(s) in addition to whatever ride(s) are installed, it might be a 1.5 - 2 year construction time frame.

The demo timeframe had nothing to do with a possibility of a 2020 attraction, it had to do with money. Every day the equipment and manpower was on site to take down Volcano, the money meter was running. The park wanted the coaster/mountain structure gone by the time the park went to daily operations. The contractor delivered. Just some minor cleanup on their part.

At this point, I think KD has a pretty good idea of what they want to do with the site. They are probably working toward getting the details down and starting to look at attraction vendors and asking for proposals based on the park's ideas.

But why the urgency for this year vs SBNO unless you believe they're going to begin construction during the summer season - money meter would be racking up pretty good for that too.

Ok with my GIF reaction out of the way.....who cares if a coast goes in this exact spot? I've long been of the opinion that even though the lot is big enough for a smaller scale coaster, I do thing going with a flat package is a better idea. Why? (1) As mentioned Safari Village is already heavy with coasters. (2) Putting a coaster there leads to inevitable comparisons. (3) There's a possibility in their plans that a coaster was never to go there after Volcano.

Also reading that KD has too many flats. What? Really? Like was that a joke? 16 flats without Planet Snoopy or Water Rides included (I don't because A, many are duplicates and B, many are height limited.). That's not a whole lot. By comparison, doing the same elimination (kid rides and water rides) Hersheypark has 25 flats. Canada's Wonderland has 23 by the same standard. BGW has 14 with the same standards. If at all I argue our south central parks are extremely underserved when it comes to flat packages.

I would argue to move on. There are still costs related to SBNO rides.
