I agree that Tumbili and Jungle X SHOULD be a bit of a marketing threat for Pantheon right now, but thanks to what seems to amount to just an incredible degree of communication ineptitude on the part of KD—the kind I once thought only BGW was capable of—it would take a monumental sea-change in behavior and market interest for Tumbili/Jungle X to matter to BGW at all at this point in my opinion. In my opinion, the Tumbili media event and opening day was KD's chance to really recapture some interest, but we all watched how incredibly that was mishandled today...
 
If I had to guess KD was tempering expectations in case the ride wasn't ready for opening today. Thats why all their marketing has been for Jungle Xpedition in general, but I bet they'll pick up the Tumbili marketing now that it's running.

For BGW, the issue is that now is the time of year that a lot of KD pass sales happen. If Pantheon had opened, or even soft opened, last summer or fall, they could have locked in membership sales and winter group sales. Now they are competing head to head with KDs offering. It's like holding a pair of aces and letting yourself get outdrawn or drawn even on the river.
Flip side is you open it last summer and maybe get a slight bump in late summer sells and some extra sells on the slow nights of Howl-O-Scream but then by the time Tumnili opens Pantheon is old news and there is nothing fresh to compete with KD for those spring sells.

But KD never actually promoted that the ride was opening today. I also don't think that today was a media day but, rather, just a day that they wanted to get some pictures and videos of the ride for marketing purposes. I really feel like you are holding KD to things that they never even committed to. Should they have done things differently? Maybe..... but I don't think shows any kind of marketing ineptitude because, well, there wasn't any marketing involved here.

It seemed pretty clear that the plan was to at least soft open today.

In other news leave it to BGW Fans to point out that while the park is marketing the rather dubious "world's fastest multi launch coaster" ckaim. That Pantheon actually ties a different world record. MAJOR under sell in my opinion.

Marketing is on! I’ve heard several radio spots and a few commercials on both cable and streaming channels. I’ve enjoyed the videos/reviews on YouTube, and what I find funny is how the general consensus is that it’s a solid ride but themeing sucks😂😂 oh well 🤷🏻 My only gripe after riding is that they didn’t plant any trees blocking the backstage area, right before you depart the station. It’s tacky. Also… those animals are going to stink in the Summer standing in line.

So what are the odds pantheon opens this afternoon? Doubt it will be warm enough before lunch time. Was planning on going this afternoon to hit that ERT for members since I couldn't make it Friday because of work 🥲

Accuweather says a high of 46 today, coming around 5 pm. Not liking those odds.

If BGW had done sneak peeks late summer and fall of 2021, say one day each week, they can boost membership sales and add on sales (e.g. $20 ride add on to a daily ticket). Then do the spring opening to the general public they are now. This way they max out sales, not disappoint their members, and keep Pantheon front and center for several months.
