Yea, it’s just weird that employees would also need a ticket…
They can't have every employee just show up on Thursday. They need to be able to plan for downtime and slow operations. Plus they pay employees for their time during these tests. So they need to limit the number and have a way to track who to pay. So they have created an event that an employee can sign up for a ticket to ride. Then they will get checked in when they arrive.
 
This isn’t anything new. It gives them a chance to work out operations, before opening to media and the public. At least that is my understanding.
Not to mention, as far I understand it there's a certain hours requirement that the ride needs to be operated by ops with people to be certified. You need to pay people to satisfy the hours requirement, so they have employees volunteer for these shifts.
