Y'know, it still kinda bugs me that they haven't started full testing yet. Velocicoaster at IOA's been doing heavy testing for at least a month... what makes this ride different?

Intamin has not left Universal since Hagrid's was finished. Once the team got Hagrid's programming polished up they started working on Velocicoaster

Alright gang, some good news. BGW is currently planning to open on March 21st according to the park calendar.

Now, do we think Pantheon is going to try and be an opening day attraction? Or, will it get pushed back until late spring, or worse, early summer?

There's no way to tell what the world is going to look in a few months, and if current capacity restrictions stay in place, it seems like an opening day launch is out of the realm of possibility. It would make sense to hold off on opening the ride until they can drum up the maximum possible hype for the ride. The park is also notorious for missing opening day as seen with InvadR, Tempesto, Verbolten, Mach Tower, Griffon, etc... Intamin is also not known for being the most reliable manufacturer, and this is the first ride that is supposed to break the curse at BGW since Escape From Pompeii in 95'. Also, from looking at photos of the site it does look like there's a ton of work that needs to be completed over the next couple of months. *coughs* trees *cough* shrubbery *cough*

Anyways, totally stoked to get back to full operations again after a whole year of only half of the park being open at a time. Either way we're going to be able to ride the Rhine River Cruise again and score some sweet views of Pantheon. Fingers crossed there will be trains flying over that top hat by then.

It really depends on whether the park can fully open as planned in March. It's encouraging to see the park calendar updated but it's going to depend on whether the state will force them to keep capacity restricted until closer to the summer. If that happens then expect more limited capacity special events like the ones this year until a full park opening closer to summer. In that scenario, the park will likely hold off on opening Pantheon until they can get the full park open.

But if the park does get to fully open in March, then expect Pantheon to open shortly after.

Regardless of these two scenarios, one notable other change for next Spring will be that virtually all major colleges and universities have cancelled spring break given concerns for Covid. That alone will dictate a different looking operating calendar next spring due to staffing and projected attendance levels.

The park should have a more normal year in 2021, albeit not as normal as 2019 but it will be better than this year along with WCUSA finally reopening for next summer as well.

If we take the park at its word from back in the summer, they were willing to fully open with roughly 5000-7000 guests, and if they were to open the entire park they would under the current rules be allowed to reach that number based on the 50% capacity designation. So, accounting for major changes in the state's virus response and the possibility of those rules being changed in the new year, my guess is the park intends to shift away from "limited capacity events," and just open the park at a limited capacity.

This means that I think it's possible Pantheon opens in March, but it's also possible they could soft open it for March/April and then do the big marketing push for Memorial Day.

I will just say the dates on the website are just placeholders at the moment. Expect the actual operating calendar to look different. But from what I understand the current plan is for the park to switch to a limited capacity reopening in March. They will consider themselves officially reopened. I would fit expect Pantheon to be open then. The point that you are missing about all of those rides is that they were never intended to be open on opening day. I'm fact it seems the park prefers May openings for a number of reasons. This ride however will be different. When they shut down there was about 8 weeks worth of work to be done before it opened. That included what the park would do as far as theming. I'd expect the ride to be turned over to the park sometime in January at this stage.

I think that actul number under the restrictions would be closer to 10,000 with the whole park open.
