Nice photo. Saves me out of the way driving?
It's from a comment on BGW's Facebook post.I guess this is another employee pic? Since the park is closed today
It's normally a good idea to share when a photo isn't yours and where you got it @Jason
Fully or like the above pic?Spike track is up.
Close to full.Fully or like the above pic?
I think it's the biggest crane not because of shifting to Project 2021, but rather building out over that slope requires a crane with some reach. In order to get some reach with a crane, you need height.
This, and probably a bit of economics.
If a small crane costs (just making up numbers) $400 a day to rent and operate; and a larger crane costs $450 but means they can keep it in one spot, then if $50 x operating days is less than the cost to build N extra pad sites, then it is more economical to go with a larger crane
I think the extra height has more to do with how big this coaster actually is. The crane needs to be able to stay in a central location and reach most of the places they are placing track. The extra height/length will be helpful.BGW mentioned this is the largest crane they’ve ever had on site - is there a reason for this or something special about this coaster that requires a crane taller than that used to build Mach tower or griffon?
Or is this crane being reused for a certain very tall coaster across the river next year ?
Out of curiosity I found a picture of the crane I took and from what I could see it's rented from WO Grubb. Upon zooming in on the picture I could pretty much make out a decal of the model of the crane even though it was fuzzy from zooming in. So went to Grubb's website and found it's a crawler crane and from the number in the model that I could make out the only one they show that matches is the Terex/Demag CC-1500 which is a 330 ton crane. There is no mention as to how much this costs to rent but just a pure guess based on some other rental figures I found I'll guess it's around $15K/month. And that doesn't include delivery and setup along with removal.
