^^ I understand where the 8 letter "leak" came from, but unless details have been hidden from my eyes, I don't see it as concrete truth worth abiding by. It may be worth considering, but having these theme guesses utilize the 8 letters as like a deciding factor seems silly to me since it has not been very confirmed. At least to the extent of my knowledge as a casual onlooker.

Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

+1. I've always been very suspicious of this 8 character rumor.

I'm still partial to "Caligula".

I could actually see the park doing this, having no idea the legacy or association it carries. I mean, a ride themed to vikings is not far from that. How would that be much different than having a ride called The Crusade?

Maybe Madrid was gonna be based on the Spanish Inquisition until someone pointed out that might be in poor taste.

You're quite correct. Any marketing professional who is driving a branding and product positioning strategy based on the number of letters in the name should be shown the exit door. Yes, brevity is nice, as it would matter for representing the coaster's name on crowded maps and mobile devices. If brevity and trademark protection are the goal, a registered icon is an alternative way to pursue it - to be used in conjunction with the name (even if generic). The combination of a registered icon and the name will afford legal protection - so long as the combination is registered.

I don't think the rumor claims BGW was insisting on an eight letter name, just that the name they picked was eight letters long.

This - from the post of the 'leak' it mentioned that Kevin said the name will be 8 letters, just didn't say the actual name.

So this isn't a game of the BGW marketing team trying to follow some asinine scheme to make it 8 letters, it's that they already had it and it happens to be 8 letters.

Thus Triton is out, Pantheon is in, Hercules is in though unlikely IMO, Olympus is out, etc.

Too bad they couldn't have kept just the underworld reference and make it be some kind of Mephisto ride... Though I don't think that's a Roman name either

I still have yet to see the origination/confirmation of the "Kevin 8 Letter Leak" other than a single post here. Was it from a tram spieler? Dippin' Dots telegraph? Train team member?

Fun fact; every planet in the solar system is named after a Greek or Roman God. Except for Earth - it's named after that stuff on the ground. ?

How do we know for sure that this is true though? Do we have a statement from Lembke? Or is it word of mouth? For not having proof of this being true, people seem really ready to cross out names with this "rule".
