For anyone who doesn't want to suffer through a video in which the hosts didn't even Google the project they're talking about ahead of recording, this was just a random guess they made—they don't claim any inside information.

So I was doing some reading and discovered something pretty neat today...

The park's reference to being "immortalized in the garden of the gods" seems to be a direct reference to an area of the Underworld known as "Elysium" or the "Elysian Fields." You can picture it basically as a fancy retirement community for gods, heroes, etc. It also seems to be close to Pluto's residence in the Underworld.

Assuming this was intentional, it's great to see some thought going into the theme/marketing for this coaster. Making references to relatively unknown locations in Roman mythology is a huge step up from what we saw from the park with Finnegan's Flyer and InvadR.

Another note: The dark red color in MMXX's color palette could be a really neat reference back to pomegranates—a fruit which are heavily associated with Pluto, Proserpina (his wife), and the Underworld in general.

I'm not gonna guess a name. Here's some (perhaps) backstory -

"According to the legends, one who ate a meal in the underworld would seal their destiny and never be able to leave.

Pluto captured Proserpina, daughter of Ceres, the goddess of harvest. Eventually Proserpina ate 6 pomegranate seeds so she was stuck. Jupiter sent his son Mercury to negotiate as Ceres was distraught. The deal cut was Pluto agreed that if Proserpina married him she would live as queen of the underworld for six months of the year and in the spring she could return to earth for six months.

Each spring, Ceres blooms all the flowers as a welcome to her beloved daughter returning from the underworld. In the autumn, when Proserpina returns to Pluto, Ceres cries and lets all the crops die until the following spring when the cycle begins again. And so, according to the legend, this is why we have seasons."

I could really see the theme being escape from the underworld leading to the switch track part representing the trip back thinking you could escape.

Proserpina is also known in some stories as Persephone:

I agree with @kmccarthy27 ...if you follow @Zachary's theory...the portion from the station to the switch track is "the underworld". If (and it's a big IF) BGW does it right that area would be "dark" with ominous visuals...perhaps Pluto himself.

Then you try to escape... Again IF BGW does it right, you might hear Pluto yelling "YOU CAN'T ESCAPE" as the train makes the second launch. As you roll back up the spike you hear an eerie laugh... then down the spike onto the third launch "NO!" ...and finally escape through a beautiful landscaped run back to the station.

Upon leaving the station, you'll have a photo opportunity with statues of Roman Gods and a chance to enjoy a refreshing beverage...

Never miss a marketing opportunity

"Mother, you're driving me insane!"
"You were never sane to begin with!"

At least that's what I thought from that storyline
