I like the idea of multiple photo spots on a ride - keeps you guessing so that instead of knowing where it is and preparing for a staged shot it'll keep you guessing.

Maybe that's just when I've been on the same rides enough to be ready for the cameras though....

But does tempesto even count?

All of their Marquee roller coasters have one with few exceptions. The only ones that don't are tempesto (which as forementioned, who cares???) And Alpengeist for which a camera just isn't feasible.

There is no way they are going to run this without some sort of upcharge potential. Ride videos have proven wildly unpopular but ride photos are still rather popular.

In the spring I stood by the photo booth for le scoot watching a sleeping kid while my wife and son rode... and in the ~ 45 minutes I stood there the guy working the booth rang up at least $200 in sales.

Many people were not only buying the photos but also frames for them etc

There are also a lot of costs associated with it. Licensing the system, maintaining the system, licensing the equipment. It's not a cheap endeavor. I'm not saying that it can't be worth it. But they have a lot more data than we have about how these photos perform.

Also in this day and age it's honestly better to limit the rides which you can get photos from, the odder rides usually perform better in sales than the generally popular ones.

Can you blame them though? Almost no one buys those things.

Care to share evidence to your statement? When I made the opposite argument I provided specific examples. Just saying a statement isn't particularly helpful..

For instance, this past weekend when coming off of verbolten, the automated photo computer was down.. I actually had to wait in line behind two parties purchasing photos to scan my photokey. (Side note: I would not have purchased a photokey separately, but it came free with my membership, so I use it).

Anyway, the point is... I've witnessed the photo booths getting a lot of business.

I would like to see a coaster photo thing that actually had a good camera and took good pictures instead of the crap quality they always have.

Stationary, weather-resistant camera that is capturing something that is moving quite quickly, with no time to focus.

I say it is relatively good given most cameras would encounter tremendous motion blur.

Headed off topic I know, but isn't that a reason they have on-train cameras on Verbolten?

Could they be possibly going that route here as well, which is why there isn't any camera placements in the planning documents we've been able to see thus far?

No. When verbolten opened they had on ride video. The onboard cameras aren't used anymore

Some pics i took from near the garden and at the top of the exit of Davinci cradle. Is the construction the reason its been closed every day I've been this year??? ... keep getting errors in loading the pic is too large. Is there a max size???

What's been closed this year? Considering they only started this week with clearing my guess would be no.

Davinci cradle has been closed. Just talked to operator and it is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. You can get a pic of the heavy equipment from there.

Try uploading them to Imgur or similar.

Good info @mountaineers maybe someone will brave the crowds this weekend to snag us a photo.. or we wait another week.

I'll be there tomorrow to take plenty of photos.

I once bought a photo at Apollo of a test run. I did it purely for the humor. The young lady working the booth was highly amused.
I was this close to buying a ride photo of an empty Magnum XL-200 car. That, along with my sheer terror when my OTSR popped up a notch on Talon, are my two biggest regrets in not buying photos.

Could see the bulldozer and other equipment from the top of cradles exit ramp. Plus along the wall at the end of the garden toward Marco Polo Market there is a gap in the fence you can see through.
