On a more serious note, I'm kind of bummed out that this is being considered an expansion to Festa and not to San Marco; imo that area could use a little bit of TLC.

I have a feeling that the name given to JCC has no bearing on where the expansion is connecting or how it will be themed.

I think it would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn't make two connections: one next to Da Vinci's Cradle/behind Marco Polo's Marketplace and the other next to Roman Rapids. By doing that they would have much better circulation in the area, especially considering Festa is just a dead-end as it stands today. It would cut off a few minutes of walking time if you're coming from Oktoberfest to go to the back of Festa.

Re: "Spain is confirmed." Fun to speculate all we want, and the deer do seem to be in the know...

But I personally do not read much of anything into references to Madrid/Spain or Festa. Too much is unknowable and subject to change. Any additional development around the attraction could also be phased in.

And bear in mind that government filings have a name merely as a point of reference and are focused on that which is relevant to the government. i.e. whether height waivers, RPA impacts, etc.--those asks don't require SEAS to divulge much about topics that do not require such filings, nor do they have anything to do with ride/hamlet themeing (excepting colors, lighting & things related to structures), marketing strategy, or multi-year plans for other attractions whether in existing or proposed hamlets...

In my eyes, it's plasubile it is themed to Spain, Mexico, Italy, "the world" (Festa), or something else, and probably will be driven by what other unknowable plans there are, how to leverage them for the biggest draw, and the economic conditions forecasted for an assumed 2020 open. Personally, I think a Spanish theme would be a wise choice to drive attendance, whether a ride, or to maximize further, a full hamlet, themed to a location in "Spain" or "New Spain"--but we shall see.

This actually gave me some pause. Honestly, I would not complain about a coaster themed to another country visited by Marco Polo. Sadly, I think the entire concept of Festa Italia being "a celebration of Marco Polo's journey" is dead, reduced to a generic carnival theme in all but the names of the area's three flat rides. And maybe InvadR has already overused the concept of a foreign-themed coaster within a given hamlet. But the idea of reviving the Marco Polo culture of Festa's theme is, in my opinion, an intriguing (albeit unlikely) option that hasn't been discussed.

I don't honestly know if Festa ever really was such a celebration, or at least only a celebration of the journey versus the origin. You have the flats (and at least one more of those that left, e.g. Sea Dragon--I miss that one--that could be the "journey," though not so sure of our ever-moving Catapult friend). But you also have Roman Rapids & Apollo--clearly "Italy" more than "journey." One may argue Marco "popped up" again (Polo!) with the marketplace, which is ironic because it's not even in Festa but San Marco. And I don't even know what to say about the anachronism that is Tempesto, but it's an Italian dude...

That's why I've always said of Festa..."it's a hot mess."

But to my earlier point, too much left unknown, and my assumption is there are a couple possible theming options, and maybe even tied to a couple possible expansion options...with perhaps a Festa / Marco Polo option being a more conservative (no hamlet) and/or proximate (if entrance ends up being off of Festa) option.

edit: and one more related sub-item to the list of factors... on what may create the biggest draw--context was on themeing for ride / any hamlet, but related is simply traffic flow. If decided traffic flow is such that it's better to have the entrance off of Festa--or maybe they're concerned about the Rapids side of Festa (further) becoming a dead-end stub....well you could put the Madrid entrance there to generate traffic. Sure, you could theme it any number of ways to my point, but that could help justify a Festa theme. Just too many variables.

edit 2: I do like the idea of two entrances as well. Maybe more in-line with a hamlet expansion.

Now I have seen people mention Madrid a lot previously on their posts with no reply from BGW, but then I see this one and it seems like kinda a smartass reply to an innocent comment. I don't know it just kinda irked me. Thoughts?

To be fair, I think given the angle of the shot, you may not be able to actually see the planned coaster in the photo above.

Also, to be totally honest, I appreciate smartass BGW... ?

I just laughed at their comment. It's not like they're going to reply "ok, you got us. Yep, new coaster coming". Secondly, at @Zachary said, they're technically correct in that the Madrid coaster wouldn't be visible from that angle.

I think it's a very sassy response of 'you can't see it form there'. I love when these parks get cheeky with the pushy subgroup of enthusiasts. Back in the day (09-13) Hersheyparks team that made the great Skyrush game, the fun F97 game; that marketing team was so fantastic and they gave the cheeky feedback like that.

(FWIW I really miss those 2 games They were so fun and kept Hershey in the news)

In the end I never expect BGW to comment on something like this through insta/twitter/FB.

Completely agree that I wouldn't read into their denial here any more than I had read into their "affirmation" of the Orlando story on twitter. "Creating buzz" or trolling (or both) methinks.

I also agree it's plausible you couldn't even see it...however, I believe what's even more plausible is the BGW person responding assumed you couldn't see it due to the angle.

In actuality, I believe you most likely would see a piece of it based on the RPA plans--depending on how high the track is along the Rhine and/or how much vegetation in the RPA buffer is thinned. Which could be quite a few trees to maximize the view from Ponte San Marco, facilitate construction & bank stabilization, etc.
