RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

There is only only thing this can possibly be.  Consider.  Large pasture area, water, forestry, and a need for 300+ feet?

It can only be for an observation tower for a herd of Argentinosaurus.  This of course means we now know what has REALLY be happening at SeaWorld

Especially since Dinosaurs Alive will probably be leaving the Cedar Fair parks in the upcoming years. KD leaves another opening for BGW to hit.

I.. I was joking. Dinosaurs legitimately do not have any place in BGW.
I was playing along.

But Dinosaurs Alive is leaving Cedar Fair. All the more reason for Project Madrid to go big or go home if it is a coaster. It has to compete with not only Twisted Timbers, but whatever Cedar Fair has planned for Dinosaurs replacements. I can see KD getting a flat package where Dinosaurs was, but I could easily also see them taking out the go-karts too and using that space for a coaster in, say, 2023.

Verbolten didn't wow riders.
I think that depends on who you ask.

Hoping Xcelerator isn't deemed irreparable at this point, because that would pretty much rule out the spectacular hydraulic launch that set Xcelerator, Storm Runner, Top Thrill Dragster, and Kingda Ka above the rest. If the hydraulic launch isn't an option, Project Madrid will have to be either inversion or airtime focused to distinguish it from I305's focus on pure speed and positive/lateral G's.

Intamin is still manufacturing Accelerator coasters, they just have moved beyond the obsolete hydaulic launch in favor of the more reliable LSM launch system.

I fear a BGW B&M Giga would be more like Leviathan, which from what I've heard is inferior to its hyper predecessor Behemoth in every way except size. Could they even fit a Fury-like layout?
I've actually ridden Leviathan (unlike most people) and it gets a bad rap for which it doesn't deserve. The ride is not Fury 325 by any means; you can tell that B&M learned from Leviathan when building Fury. But in Leviathan's case I think B&M really built a fantastic coaster. I think you can see how they transitioned from the trim heavy designs of their later hyper coasters to the speed demon that is Fury. My only issue with Leviathan is how they had to build it so much higher off the ground because of the backstage areas and the Arrow looper that it traverses, which is just a weird visual.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Shane is right - Leviathan gets a bad rap. It's a great ride. I think you are right in that they learned from what wasn't great and improved it.

Lately I've been thinking:
With B&M coming up on their 30th, BGW on their 45-50th range.....might both sides be willing to take a risk to do something different. I'm thinking B&M trying a different lift system, going steeper with the lift hill because of it. BGW willing to take the risk on an unproven lift system.

I'm falling harder and harder on Intamin not going to be involved with some parks. Sounds like Hershey is done with their long successful partnership over the Skyrush problems. I think Intamin's going to be a growing rarity in America as B&M keeps crushing it, RMC keeps innovating, Mack & Others step up, Vekoma's new track has a chance at making a bunch of noise.

My two cents (which are proverbially worthless but...), at that height, this is an Intamin. This park has a long standing tradition of going above and beyond. This isnt a chain lift, its an accelerator, closest one is Kingda ka 5 hours away. Next closest is Cedar Point (both parks which I have been to in the past month). They wowed us with Verbolten, Tempesto, and Invadr (Invadr is incredibly impressive for its height), no one can argue that. They would not put in a $25 million 300+ version of Apollos, thats stupid. The competition at that height is I305, arguably one of the best in the country and at that height, thats what they are going after if it is a coaster. Too tall for flyer. INTAMIN ACCELERATOR and hope and pray it is, Kingda ka rules....
Verbolten didn't wow riders. It failed to place in the Golden Ticket Awards while its Florida counterpart Cheetah Hunt made it on the list. Tempesto didn't wow riders, we joke about it being a flat. InvadR wowed riders. All of the GCI character on a smaller scale. Best return on investment they've had with a new ride, especially hitting Kings Dominion when they were down.

Hoping Xcelerator isn't deemed irreparable at this point, because that would pretty much rule out the spectacular hydraulic launch that set Xcelerator, Storm Runner, Top Thrill Dragster, and Kingda Ka above the rest. Funny you mention Kingda Ka. BGW and Gadv are very comparable parks, but BGW crushes Gadv in every category except Kingda Ka, El Toro, the flat rides, the safari, and the Coke Freestyle machines.

Ever heard of Fury 325? It’s nothing like Apollo.

1. Intamin accelerators use LSMs now, like Red Force and Taron.

2. The land they have is huge. The could absolutely fit a Fury layout. Only issue is the lift hill placement.

They are all going away. I know a bit off topic but gonna be interesting what KD does with the space.

Could we be seeing a 10 year battle between KD and BGW brewing with both parks suddenly unlocking a large amount of space for expansion without buying more land? I think this next bit of time could be very exciting for those of us with the ability to go to both places.

Personally I feel like BGW fired the first shot with Invadr, bringing it's first woodie.
KD firing back with Twisted Timbers to get something BGW doesn't have.
Is an airtime giga to have 2 big airtime coasters BGW's next shot? I would like it to be.

Not only BGW's first woodie, but Virginia's only modern woodie, unless Hurler counted. The next nearest modern woodie is Roar at Six Flags America.

Twisted Timbers will set the bar high for an airtime-oriented Project Madrid coaster.

Eh I can't say that TT will set the bar high for Madrid. The only way it does that is if Madrid is a woodie....which I would highly doubt.

There's really nothing in the area TT competes with so what it sets the bar for high is the next park that wants to do an RMC.

Right now the bar for Madrid, if this is a coaster, is Fury and I-305. That's a mighty high bar. My #1 and #2 giga's.

The one place BGW could really one up them if they wanted to...theme. They've slipped lately, but if they really wanted to, the queue, the story, even if they wanted to do something with the train with speakers or style, they could really do something special with a ride that is close to those two.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

TwT will be hard for BGW to beat. It looks like it could be a world class roller coaster.

I was able to get close to one of these deer and what I found was astounding.  Inside the deer's hard drive appears to be early promotional content including a POV of one of the rides coming 2019.  I don't think anyone was expecting this.  I suggest you all watch quickly in case this is DMCA'd by the park.

This thread is 99% random speculation and wish fulfillment. The hacked deer footage is as legitimate as most of the other ideas being presented. If you don't like the joke, ignore it since other people do. It gives them something interesting to read here.

The only thing as legit as the hacked deer bullshit is the stupid starflyer rumor.
