It's very likely that they saw that Phantasialand (and Intamin) claim Taron is the fastest multi-launch coaster in the world, figured they could add half a mile per hour to Pantheon's speed to beat it, and then moved on without any further research.

The real issue here is that Phantasialand seems to stake their claim on the belief that Soaring with Dragon's "swing launch" only counts as one launch and hence, Soaring with Dragon isn't a multi-launch coaster. I tend to think that rationale is bullshit, but whatever, it's their position and it's not totally outside the realm of reason.

THAT SAID, BGW has painted themselves into a corner here. They continuously claim Pantheon features four launches, not two (one + the swing launch). In doing so, they must also use that same definition for Soaring with Dragon, making Soaring with Dragon a multi-launch coaster and hence, invalidating their claim that Pantheon is the fastest in the world.

BGW marketing has to pick their poison here. Either...

  1. Pantheon has two launches, Soaring with Dragon (and, ironically, Tempesto) aren't multi-launch coasters, and Pantheon is the fastest multi-launch coaster in the world or...
  2. Pantheon has four launches, Soaring with Dragon (and Tempesto) are multi-launch coasters, and Soaring with Dragon is the fastest multi-launch coaster in the world.
BGW can't have it both ways.
I will play devil’s advocate. Launch can be used to refer to the physical part of the track and also the experience during the ride.

Take for instance a shuttle loop. A shuttle loop is certainly not a multi-loop coaster, but it is a multi-looping coaster.

The terminology here does certainly muddied, but by referring to two different meanings of the word, it seems that the record is marginally acceptable while also entirely gimmicky.

Should you advertise as the worlds fastest multi-launching coaster you would be wrong. But using the word launching to describe the four launch experiences requires excessive verbal gymnastics over just saying four launches which can mean the same thing.

My take: doesn’t matter how you cut it, gimmicky record is gimmicky. At least we aren’t calling Larson loops coasters.

@Zachary (in lieu of copying your whole post) I'll say they go the layman way and count each launch separately. Thus, they could clean up this nonsense with "The World's Fastest Quad Launched Coaster (without seatbelts)™"

I see they're going with the gimmicky route.. I mean that's almost the equivalent of saying "Tempesto: the tallest, fastest, and longest Sky Rocket II coaster in the Mid-Atlantic!"

Honestly, I have gotten used to it with the how the park's marketing has been over the last few years. Remember Colossal Curl's bit marketing point? Also a big asterisk.

Kinda surprised it wasn't a "Worlds tallest and fastest multi-launch, multi-location, reversing-spike, triple inversion, golden colored, Roman god themed, 16 seat (I think that's right), with launch airtime and NO SEATBELTS!!!! roller coaster."

Their response is best simplified as stating that Pantheon is the fastest multi launch coaster that has both a shuttle launch and a traditional launch. Even still, its a mouthful. Regardless, the ride will end up being phenomenal. I cannot wait for next year to hurry up and get here.

Just annoying that they would put the time in to make a video for a real nothing-burger.

Very cheely (hah, see what I did there? ?), but at least we're finally getting some marketing!

Wait so are they increasing the speed of the launch or the length of the drop after the Top Hat?
