They are still technically lap bars, though more like lap boards, but thank goodness Intamin has learned since then.

Why does some of the track not have the round tube underneath it as as a support? It makes it looks like a wacky worm track.

I’m no expert so don’t hold me to it, but in places that don’t exactly require extra steel because of the less amount of stress the train will be putting on the track, there’s no real reason to spend more money for the unneeded steel.
 
Pretty much what @Coaster Square said, the track isn’t put under a ton of load there resulting in less stress on the structure. Pretty much just the weight of the train and riders at those points compared to the base of a hill where the load on the track and supports would be much greater. #savemoney

Mo money mo problems....

This and where the supports need to be spaced further apart (ie the zero-g winder) and the track would need more support there.

Man, at the rate they're building this week, they'll be done by Christmas! But seriously, these guys are cranking through construction for this.

My guess would be that they may be following a schedule like this. (Please note that I have no inside info, only my own opinion on how we may see this project progress)

Oct 31: Footers complete
Thanksgiving: Start Ride Electrical, Start Ride Buildings
New Years (or shortly after): Trackwork complete
Mid January: Buildings Complete
End of January: Trains arrive
Mid February: Electrical Complete
End of February: Begin Pre-Testing Electrical checkout
Early March: Pull-through and beginning launch tests
Mid-March: Full Circuit tests
Late March: Handover to park, begin operator training
Early April: Team-member rides, media events, maybe soft openings
2nd or 3rd weekend of April: OPENING WEEKEND!

Again, just my opinion, based on both on my professional experience of electrical engineering and experience closely watching MT, VB, Tempesto, and Invadr go up while working at the park. This is just a stab in the dark really.


[Quick personal note: I will probably not reply after 3:30CDT today until a week from next Thursday as I will be out of the office, and let's be real, my profile quote is often more true than not...FYI]
