Who knows what grade will be at all of these different points in the ride, but it's my current understanding that the highest ALTITUDE point in the ride is 178 feet above grade (the spike) and the drop is 180 feet tall.
That sounds reasonable just with triple launches I expected the top hat to be higher than the vertical Spike

You would know Z it was my interpretation that the top hat was 180 feet and they didn't give us the final drop Height I don't really get why the vertical Spike would be the highest point when you're building up that much momentum in a triple launch

There will be a certain amount of track at the top of the spike (10... maybe 15 feet...?) that the train will never touch during normal operation. You can see this in action in off-ride videos of Soaring with Dragon.

Additionally, think about what percentage of the train's weight is even reaching its standard operating apex on the spike—literally only the very, very back of the train is being lifted that high. That takes considerably less energy than what is required to lift the entire train all the way up and over a similarly sized top hat.

With respect to the anticipation you felt when it became apparent that BGW was planning a new coaster attraction, long ago (perhaps a giga),
how would you best describe your current level of excitement for Pantheon, knowing all that we know about the ride at this time?

1. Hate it... Don't plan to ride it.
2. Somewhat disappointed... I might ride it.
3. It seems pretty cool... Waiting to ride it.
4. Better than I expected... Looking forward to riding it.
5. Absolutely awesome... Can't friggin' wait to ride it.

It’s weird because if Pantheon had come out of nowhere and I knew nothing about it prior to the announcement it absolutely would have been a 5 for me. But knowing about the height waiver and the rumors of what Madrid could have been will always bring it down to a 3-4 to me thinking of what could have been.

Exactly... It could have been a redforce that crossed the Rhine...

Would that have been better than Pantheon?

I'm at a 4.5. The coaster looks incredible to me and I honestly think that even now, post-announcement, it is being slept on hard by the larger coaster enthusiast community and even by BGW itself. I sorta fail to see how Pantheon won't be comparable to something like Maverick. My only trepidations at this point come from the name, theme, etc.

4.5-5 I mean BGW has long needed a coaster with insane modern elements and ejector air. I love the collection as is but I think it has long needed something of Intamin/RMC levels of intensity. One thing that's definitely overshadowing it in my opinion is our rampant speculation about Project 2021 at this point. Which is perfectly merited but Pantheon might be the best coaster in the park when it opens and could remain that long after 2021.

I'd say 4.5-5 for me as well. I'm really excited for all of the unique elements that this coaster will offer to the park. The only thing that keeps me from getting even more excited is the whole promo the park has done.

Here's some pictures from yesterday. You can see that there are a lot of footers with the mounting bolts done and more forms, beams and pipes in place. The drop off to the Rhine River is pretty steep.
