"At the meeting’s public hearing on the project, several Kingsmill residents voiced concern about the new ride’s potential noise and sight impacts on parts of their neighborhood. The “spire” will be constructed with open lattice and will be built near Verbolter’s broken bridge."

This from the paper and words from BGW spokeslady Suzy Cheesy. The new 2021 is a spire of lattice. Not a giga.

First, this is the MMXX thread. 2021 has it's own home.

Second, you should probably watch the video. I would charactorize your above quote as a misquote. She says it's thin like a spire; not that it will be a spire. And the lattice is support not the structure itself. This supposed quote completely mischaractorizes what was actually said.

I'm glad we're not getting a giga that crosses the water, that would've ruined the Rhine river view
Yeah, seeing a big roller coaster interacting with the Rhine would have wrecked everything the park is known for.
I mean having it cross the Rhine would look really weird. That’s different than just having a drop skim it.
Some of the above must be sarcasm, but in my mind's (awesome) design, I would cross the Rhine in a new way. Loch Ness plunges down into it. It'd be neat to have a coaster "jump" over it. With a hill; arc. This would enable boats to still pass beneath, not impede the view as much, offer something different that none of the other coasters do with the river... and could be done without a single support needing to be planted in the water. Call me for more great ideas, BGW.

Hopefully those trees go to a good home. Economically for the park it's probably easier to just trash them... But man.. if they could give the hardwoods to an experienced woodworker..

Wouldn't it be awesome if they could release a limited series of wooden keepsakes made from trees from Busch Gardens?

Sadly in these cases there is not enough timber to make it worth while for a lumber company. The area is not set up of ease of harvest, and the trees are not all of one kind. Typically they are just too hard to harvest.
HOWEVER a independent sawyer might have use for them if he is also in the business of drying and selling rough cut. This is why I currently have 14 pc. of 14'x 18-28" 8/4 rough cut white oak stacked in my driveway covered by a tarp. (it is what I was able to process from a tree that had to come down due to bug damage in my dad's yard)

Unless someone has asked to process the material. (if it is useful hard wood I might be worthwhile. I know there is a lot of oak and poplar back there)

Every time I drive down 64 near where they are widening I want to cry because almost all the timber is going to become fire wood and or mulch.

As a hobbyist carpenter, it really makes me sad, because for me that kind of product is so very expensive. Go wander around a Woodcraft some time. After you are down drooling over the Purple Heart and Blood Wood, take a look at the price of the Maple and Poplar.

@Zimmy it's off topic so I won't go into details here, but if you ever want some curly maple, let me know and I can pick some up for you. A local place stocks the best curly maple I've ever seen anywhere for a phenomenal price. If you want pics/info either direct message me, or start a thread in the general discussions area and I'll share.
