In November 2018 Sesame Place in Langhorn PA walled off the world famous "Street" of it's name sake. The park has finally announced that they are kicking off their 39th Season in celebration of the show's 50th year on television. To mark the occasion, Sesame Place is totally revamping their recreation of the iconic Sesame Street Neighborhood bringing it up to replica standards in 2019.
The current version of "the Neighborhood" at Sesame Place as it stands today was originally built in 1988. At the time it was an accurate recreation of the set of the famous television series. Unfortunately as the television show has evolved over the years, the park's rendition of Sesame Street has not kept up with changes and modifications to the street. That all changes this season!
To quote the park, "Come visit the all-new Sesame Street Neighborhood, opening this spring! The iconic street will be updated to reflect the re-imagined, vibrant set now seen on Sesame Street. Explore the brand-new storefronts including an updated Hooper’s Store and the iconic 123 stoop. Take a stroll through Abby Cadabby’s Garden and pose for a photo in Big Bird’s Nest! Be sure to look for special interactive elements throughout the Neighborhood that will make your stop on the street even more exciting!"
