Sometimes companies and such need to go back to their roots when things seems to be struggling a little bit but i think they are doing just that ! It’s better to be yourself and progress towards the identity that you were built upon. As a young millennial, They old country vibe has a way better impact on me than the modern theming that was starting to take over with London rocks . BG please continue in this new found (old roots) route.

With additions since 2016 such as: Marco Polo's Marketplace, All For One, Les Frites, Invadr, Battle for Eire, etc; it's looking like that is the case. It's like you said, these additions are new while having the "Old Country" vibe that has been quite missing in recent years and the park maybe proud of this direction.

Little tangent, but I really have to commend Busch for showing WIPs of the ride being made and all the artsy stuff that goes into it. I’m a sucker for animation and the progress of it. I love how in all the little videos they’re uploading it shows concept art and animatics and storyboards, it’s all very interesting to me, and I’m sure it is to many others as well.

(ps, I drew Ollie! Dragon characters are always awesome and I love his design!)

On another note: I just wanted to point out that there has been a lot of negative comments about this ride on the Facebook post by Busch Gardens themselves. Many people are commenting that they hate the VR idea and they are still wishing for corkscrew hill to come back of course. I would just like to state that if anyone from BG is reading this thread which we know they tend to do from time to time, these people are going to regret what they are saying if the actual ride and design is anything close to the effort they put into the ride concept and art work. They truly will be taking back their comments ! I really think this ride looks like it has one of the greatest potentials as a ride since V-bolt and arguably Dark Kastle. I don’t think anyone at BG should be worried and they probably aren’t close to worried as these people are in for a rude awakening about how good this ride actually looks. Honestly i think it has the potential to be the ride that people will love just as corkscrew hill was beloved. Whoever is in charge and spearheading ride design concepts as of late is doing a remarkable job to progress back towards the old country vibe with the exception of tempesto which I’m sure is due to lack of budget and lack of theme in that area of the park .

I'd argue that Verbolten was the start of the overly modern theming. DarKastle did right to skip the modern theming, and even in its current state is better than Justice League at the bigger Six Flags parks, or Voyage to the Iron Reef at Knott's. Though Justice League did have a very good preshow.

I thought this might be an off year, and planned my summer around that fact, but I might have to give this a chance and pick up a Fun Card again when it's on sale. I shouldn't have let my first VR experience at an amusement/theme park sour me (VR on Mind Eraser and the headset nearly fell off).

Thank you for your input ! I was on the edge about v-bolt but I don’t personally consider it too modern due to the use of the appearance of the materials such as the old ticket booth, the old TVs, the old luggage cases, the old parts in the plant room, the use of old car parts in the station, the design of the train car. Etc all of these still have older characteristics and such with the themeing. But I do see where you are thinking this

There has always been inconsistently modern shows and attractions at the park. Loch Ness Monster and Escape from Pompeii are both prime examples of this. That said, both of those attractions do a good job of focusing on old world/mythical subject matter—even if they do so through a modern lens. I believe Verbolten falls into this category as well.

What doesn't fall into this category? Le Scoot and Europe in the Air are good examples of modern attractions that focus on modern subject matter (industrial logging and aerial tours around modern Europe). Tempesto falls into this category in my opinion as well.

Griffon and InvadR could easily be set before the 19th century.
Loch Ness Monster, Alpengeist, and Le Scoot could be set in the 19th century.
Escape from Pompeii may take place in the current day, but the setting is Roman era ruins, not modern Italy.
Verbolten is about as "old world" as London Rocks / Britmania. It's too high-tech for any time before the 1960s or so.

This and DarKastle are much more fantasy themed. Fantasy/mythology usually sidesteps the issue of technology. Even if Apollo's Chariot isn't that themed, it also falls into the "mythological" category.

I would say that Verbolten has a mixture of both modern and classic "Old Country" because of the queue being recycled from Big Bad Wolf and the booth building's architecture. But it does match with the new stuff they added for the 2011 Oktoberfest expansion.

With Battle for Eire, it has a mythical fantasy aspect, but with some of the walls in the building is to be painted/decorated as if plant life has reached inside the old castle fits perfectly well with the "Old Country" aesthetic.

Oktoberfest was always based on the modern  idea of Oktoberfest: a big festhaus surrounded by carnival rides and games. I think Vbolt fits very nicely in that regard. BfE similarly is right at home among the leprechauns and talking trees of Ireland.

On the other hand, Celtic Fyre has to take place sometime in the 20th century judging by the American tap routine but it's still one of the best shows in the park. I think BG gets a little temporal wiggle room as long as they do it right (looking at you, England).

Ever since I saw that concept art of a "fireplace" that will sync with the pre-show, I wonder if BGW thinks it's clever by referencing the pre-show of King Arthur's Challenge where we see Arthur's head appear in a medieval fireplace? According to halfabee, that was the only good part about that ill-fated 1996 motion simulator.

I'm crossing my fingers that Battle for Eire will be the best ride the building ever had.

Speaking of King Arthur's Challenge... I noted an encouraging line in this latest Eire video:

"We hire real voice talent to actually play the role."

That must mean there will be no return to the leering-vagrant-paid-in-bath-salts casting decisions of yesterdecade.

They should get that Merlin actor back, wherever he is now, and put him in the distant background of a shot or two during the Eire ride video. He's probably a solid dude who was just helping out in a pinch.

The fireplace effect truly was cool.

Yeah, I wonder if other than the Irish voice actress they hired for Addie, I hope that they hired really talented voice actors for the other parts. I hope it's Frank Welker as Balor and Fred Tatasciore as Ollie; please let this be true! :D

I hope this month's video will be about either the music or the voice acting because the latter is one of the things I'm personally interested in.
