You know I did skim for it before I posted it. I was sure someone else already posted it but didn't see it. I know I'm never the first to find something.

So it seems that the mishap we saw with the mock evac (see my comments about where and how to be ill on the ride) was somewhat of a big deal. Yesterday, all day, they were building evac stairs from the bottom of the lift hill down to the path for the barn and lockers for LeScoot. When the contractors left they clearly had some stuff left to do. They need to cut the guard rail from the lift hill to permit access to the new gate. Since there is flex conduit with at least 3 boxes and lights on each pole and under the rail that could prove to be a PIA. Also while the stairs are in place they need to be backfilled. (by all appearances) Finally, and this is speculation, it looks like they may still need to put up a hand rail. By looking around the park it was hard to tell if this is a requirement or not, as we have seen several examples of similar stairs (that follow grade) with and without. I am not sure what code is here or park policy, but that begs the question, "do they need a county inspection?" Again I know commercial electrical and building code for my area, but I do not know what the county requires in a theme park.

Still, here's to hopening for a soft open today!

I have been told that Virginia requires each ride to be inspected by the county each year before it opens. That said, at least at KD, the process does not take very long. In fact, KD was still doing county inspections the day of passholder preview night..

Not looking good. We're running empty trains but stopped and engineers going out on the track now. Problem appears to be the breaking going into the loading area. This is why you do soft openings. About 10 minutes down so far.

It was a great ride. Good mix of turns and air time. Maintains good speed though out the entire ride. It is a great family coaster which seems to be target for this ride. My kids loved it and enough thrills for the adults too. This really fills a gap in the parks offerings for the kids bored by the Grover coaster but not quite ready for Nessie or Verbolten. Plus smooth enough that my wife will ride.
