I know I am probably in the minority here, but I think "Invadr" sounds and looks like a Cedar Fair name.

You're not in the minority. That's the first thing I thought of when I first saw it, that the ride sounds like something we'd see at one Cedar Fair's non-flagship parks!

Norway and Sweden are part of the Old Norse language which is descendant from the Germanic Languages from the Germanic peoples that settled that region of Europe.

Take a closer look. It's correcting your spelling and assuming you mean "invader".

and for those interested Invadr is in the Norse spelling instead of the English spelling which is Invader.

No.

I typed Invadr in Google Translate, and it came up as Swedish.

The Swedish word for Invader is "Inkräktare".

Many of the Germanic languages and English trade words with each other on a constant basis thus the reason for the spelling differences between the two languages.

The word Invadr is a play on Invader, which is LATIN in origin, derived from the word invādere which means "to attack".

Point, but the those of Norse descent do translate words that way, take the legends of the Draugr for instance

In case anybody isn't following the Pass Member Preview Day thread, below is the full video of today's announcements including the announcement of the new coaster!

Note that the video is still processing, so its quality may not be great at the moment.

RE: Project 2017

I personally like the idea of the ride. I mean come on we have London Rocks in the Globe Theater. The Globe was Shakespeare who died in 1616 with modern rock which is a 400 year old difference in time frame.

Then I remembered that the period in history when the Vikings invaded present-day Canada and the period when New France was settled are separated by about 600 years. And now I'm just confused. Sure, the park is free to use creative license, but for a theme that is seemingly based on history, it's a bit of stretch.

They're basically rewriting history completely to get this theme to work.

So now, when you realize that the whole theme is based on a nonexistent conflict between two real, historical groups that existed over half a millennium apart from each other, with one having dominated the sea and the other having settled in the Canadian wilderness, it begins to look like a nonsensical mish-mosh of ideas. Which is straight-up confusing. And it will make anybody with a basic knowledge of world history say "Huh?" when they visit the park and realize the ride's outrageous theme. The shameless mix-and-match of eras would be like putting a Battle of Hastings-themed ride in the 17th-century themed Banbury Cross area.

This.

THIS.  THIS.  THIS.

I don't think that really validates this. Go back and read the original London Rocks thread. People were livid about the idea of a 1960's rock-themed show in a Shakespearean theater. People only started to accept the idea after deciding that the show would be kept indoors (ha!) and likely only last a few years. Can't really say the same thing for a roller coaster.

RE: Project 2017

Anybody else think the coasters name has already been decided? I think they want people to feel included while feeling that THEY helped pick the name. When looking at the names I just find it hard to believe invadR would lose to (My Referance to the real name) Clash Of Clans: THE RIDE...... Well, I kinda like invadR and have no problem with it being the name invadR I just think it was pretty much already decided at the start.
