I Mean, it makes sense to me. Your traditional chain lift coaster doesn't need as much testing to make sure all the bugs are worked out. Verbolten being a launch coaster has had many issues even still. I was there in the Summer last year and the ride was down most of the day because of the computer systems saying the track was too hot. Or at least that's what they told us. To be honest I'm surprised Tempesto is opening as soon as it is.

Personally I think it was more a matter of money for it not being done by opening day. If they wanted it to be ready for opening day it could have easily been. Weather is no excuse when you look at parks like Cedar Point or Canada's Wonderland and see what they get done through their off seasons. It seemed like not a lot got done for a little while and possibly in part because there was no real rush. Even if you look at Fury 325 as a more simple coaster to build it still takes a lot more work to fully construct, considering it's span is much greater and it is way taller. They even had time for Travel Channel to film it multiple times as well as the Today Show and others.

I'm confused. Why should the park have opened Tempesto at the beginning of the season? There seems to be an assumption there, and I'm not sure it is shared by BGW management.

If the suggestion is that they could have opened at the beginning of season if the guys just worked through the snow days, then it is a silly one at best. We have no idea what their contract with the builder stipulated.
Northern states are far better prepared to work and handle severe cold and snow. We are not. (I would love to see how Cedar Park handles a hurricane) Comparing working conditions and expectations between south eastern VA and Ohio is futile at best.

I hear this all the time, "back home in (mid west state that borders on Canada) we get 100x this snow..." My response is always the same, "and I bet you spend significant capital for that yearly occurrence. We do not get huge quantities of snow on a regular basis" The point is, our workers know how to work in 120 degree 100% humidity. We know how to deal with heat and storms that involve wind and rain. I expect up there they would die in out heat.

The other thing you have to remember is with Cedar point is that their operating season is much shorter with them closing in September early October and not even opening till the beginning of May. The other thing is yes they might have finished construction of the track a month and a half ago but how much did they have left for the station and running electric and getting the control panel and everything setup.

Another thing that goes into all of this is once they do get the control panel in and everything, the ride isn't immediately released to the park. The company that manufactures the ride will take time to test for a week or so before even letting the park do their own testing.

Also from a business standpoint this spreads the crowds out some and might bring in more repeat traffic. Think of someone coming and seeing it test and then going I am going to come back so I can ride that. Also it spreads out the big events. March is opening day plus the kick off of the 40th. April gets tempsto open may is memorial day and the start of summer and so on. I actually think this is a wise idea for the park.

The point I was trying to make was that they could have opened but saw no need to, not that they were incapable... Also they original statement was that Fury 325 was easier because there weather was warmer, which I disagree with. I was trying to point out that it is less expensive to not rush construction. Also I realize they don't have the crowd level in March to need a new ride open.

I figured they only did a full circuit once or something. There's no other videos that I've seen so far besides that one

I wonder if Tempesto will make 2 laps around the circuit like Zombie Ride's animated pov? That would be pretty cool while also pushing the ride time up over 1 minute. Yea I know it would screw up capacity even more, but at least the ride would be better.

Or Joe was just in the right place at the right time. I'm sure we'll see more full circuit testing this weekend.

They started testing Tempesto full-circuit around 5:45 on Pass Member Preview Day. I was leaving Apollo's Chariot and noticed the trains were almost making it to the top of the tower, so I rushed over to Trade Wind and poised my camera to get a video. After the initial full-circuit test around 5:45, it continued to go full-circuit until I left at 6.

The Construction Fence was pushed back, revealing the plaza area star:

Also, here are some picures of areas over the fence:

It seems all that needs to be done now is mainly thematic work.
