Are you brave enough to challenge the daredevil's latest creation?

Such a beautiful day for photos in the park. It was great meeting up with the BGWFans crew for a second too. Hope to see you guys during the season.

I love Larry Giles but jeez this is so sad. I mean how far have we sunk in morale? Griffon was announced with a well thought out and suspenseful play and Mr. Giles literally led in with "so do you want to hear about Tempesto?"

Having watched that this morning in person, I can say the announcement was honestly just embarrassing. It felt like they came out, said some stuff about Tempesto, one sentence about the 40th, maybe a half a sentence about this German beer festival, threw some free t-shirts at the crowd and then said it was over. It was probably worse than last year's pass member appreciation announcement where they actually had less to announce but still made more out of it. And that was terrible too.

Well my bracket is busted, but, check out these cool aerial pictures taken by Scott K right after they installed the final piece..

The view is gonna be great, that is if you have time to actually admire it.:p

Wahoo here. I'm sad. (But we just have not played well at all recently.)

Anyway, I actually don't think it looks too ugly. It's still kinda weird having it right there next to AC, but once the area gets cleaned up, I think it'll look OK. Why's it opening so late though...that's dumb.

I think it looks good.  Having it right next to Apollo makes it look worse than it really is.  I just wish there was another place in Festa to put it in where it wouldn't clash with the view of the skyline so much.  However, I'm very interested in the final look with the signage and queue.

Also....GO GREEN!!

Signed,

A very happy Michigan State grad!!

Yeah, in the normal scheme of things, Tempesto is going to be opening very early compared to most coasters. I know when Griffon opened it was an official opening of Memorial Day weekend but had really been open for a week before. Most roller coasters that ive seen brand new open around Memorial day and into mid June.

Reason being is that the peak tourist season begins on/after Memorial Day weekend and goes through Labor Day (give or take school scheduling.)

Any amusement park is a madhouse Memorial Day weekend regardless, so naturally parks want to unvail their "new toy" to a larger group of people.

It is opening kind of late considering it is a standard designed coaster. Carowinds is opening their 300+ ft custom designed giga coaster on opening day(March 28).

It's also a lot warmer at Carowinds and they could work all winter. It's still impressive how fast they worked to get it done.

They also began construction during haunt. Tempesto didn't go vertical until right before Christmas Town. Plus outside of the blocking breaks and chain lift, Gravity takes its course for Fury. Tempesto has a lot of computerized mambo jumbo going on during testing. It's all relative.
