Except for the horrible capacity issue, I am somewhat excited interested in this coaster.  I never rode the King Kobra shuttle loop by Schwarzkopf at KD and regret it.  On the King Kobra thread I see there is somewhat of a following for it.  Granted KK had 7 cars of 4 riders for a capacity of 28 versus Tempesto's 12 riders.  Did I dream or read somewhere another car is being added to Tempesto for a total of 16 riders?

Temposto's track appears to be about 100' longer, 10' taller, and about 10 mph faster than King Kobra.  Am I wrong that there are some similarities to King Kobra?

Did a quick Google search on KK since I'm not from the area. I think it's the same or similar to Montezooma's Revenge at Knotts.

Anyhow, yeah, I think there are definitely some parallels between them.

You aren't wrong, there are some general similarities. Neither ride has OTSR's. They both go forward and backwards repectively. Both have 1 inversion. Both have a launch. The train performs a 'stall' on both rides (Which will be a unique ride aspect locally).

KK was the very first Schwarzkopf loop. Many clones were built there after. Montezooma's Revenge was one of the last built and, so far as I know the only one still operating in the United States. KK of course can still be ridden in Brazil.

There are some similarites, I think one of KK signatures was the backwards straight drop, and I fear that will be lost to twists and the like.

Considering this ride has already had drastically less advertising than even Verbolten's (which was already a huge joke), I am worried Tempesto will not bring in nearly the attendance spike they are going for. This is especially evident when considering how Verbolten, a large, high-quality and unique ride still failed to boost attendance numbers to any significance. Combine their non-existent advertising with the fact it's an un-exciting ride to begin with and you have issues.

The worst part is this whole project is clearly designed to bring in a spike of guests as quickly as they can, since this clearly isn't meant to be a long-term solution. And without any marketing, they're ruining any possible chance of success this ride could have.

To answer your last question, I think a big change in upper management would be involved. :p Edit: Evan beat me to it...

Not that she could ever be duplicated or replaced, but I would like to see something as Iconic, beautiful, and timeless as Nessie

I know this will be unpopular with some, and I'm okay with that. We can agree to disagree.

If they had built a better ride instead of Verbolten, the friendly coaster, we wouldn't be stuck with this band aid. They took a gamble by building an expensive PG13 experience and this is now what we get: a placeholder.

I don't 100% disagree, but just remember Vbolt was/is a replacement for Big Bad Wolf. At the end of the day, BBW was a family coaster. It was a lot of peoples' "first" coaster. Do I think vbolt was the best replacement? Of course not, but it's serving the purpose the park wants it to. It's also rather popular with the GP. It doesn't "go upside down" and have tons of gimmicks, a lot with pretty decent theming. The problem is, people are still finding out that the park even built Vbolt. It's sorta sad...

Really, if Vbolt didn't flop (and marketing did their job) we would be in a much different situation right now... IMO, that's why we have a placeholder ride coming.

^ After I posted last night, I kind of kicked myself because, as you've pointed out, rarely is anything as cut and dry as I made it seem. I agree with much of what you're saying, David - this is a multifaceted issue. I'll also throw in, I think "family coasters" are a disappearing middle tier of rides because they don't move bodies like they used to. One could also argue, Nessie is a less intensive ride than V-bolt so there's no need to throw another softball. I don't want to go on and on about Verbolten's issues because a. it's in the past, time to move on; and b. this thread is not really about Verbolten.

I also don't want to come off polarizing - I like Verbolten. It's fun. But I look at the price tag and just shake my head; I don't see 50 million + dollars of roller coaster there.
