RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

This is the first time ever a place name was like 100x better than the actual name.

Wat? I love the name Tempesto. My problem is the theming does not go with it... At all. "Tempesto" is storm in italian. I can think of so many different ways to theme this ride with that name. But a traveling bike stunt theme does not match the name...

There's nothing wrong with the word, it just sounds wierd, and Diavolo goes with the theming better. You know, the very sucky theming.

I thought it was sort of "traveling bike stunt theme in the early 20th century". If that's the case, then "Tempesto" suits it. Unfortunately the REDACTED graphics that I have seen don't convey an early 20th century theme. More like a "demo art in early 21st century graphic design software" sort of feeling...

Well, I'll be back in class before Zachary gets the rest of the details out. I'm expecting 100+ unread posts awaiting me.

^ David's correct, cb0355 posted the following images of "Diavolo" a while back:

See, THAT'S how the themeing for this ride should look.

The stunt guy the park hired is nicknamed Tempesto. They couldn't get Diavalo since he died over 100 years ago.

My point is.... Diavolo fit the shitty theme better. As such, nicknaming a daredevil "Tempesto" is completely unimaginative. Like I said, they could do so much more with that name. They could very easily create an atmosphere of a "disastrous, mythical storm" that would jive much better with everything else the park has done.

Alright, I've been learning more about Diavolo (whose real name was J.C. Carter) than I ever thought I'd want to know. This site has many amazing images from Diavolo's career.

Looking at all this graphic material, it would have been the PERFECT style for this new ride's themeing, but unfortunately they went a different, terrible direction with their design.

There is, perhaps a good reason they didn't want to name the coaster after the historical Diavolo:

"Diavolo (J. C. Carter), who looped the loop successfully in a number of towns in New Zealand, including Palmerston, about three years ago, has taken the risk once too often. He fell out of the loop in Singapore recently and was killed."

Is Zachary's big news what we have been talking about?
And are there any new pictures of the pile driving?

Problem is that SEAS has a long history of red herring trademark filings for new attractions. Looks like they were pretty forward with it this year though.

Maybe it was not in the budget. It cost money to file that stuff. They are getting a "coaster" on the cheap after all.

Honestly Tempesto sounds more Italian. As if someone's tempting fate. Eh I'll ride all the same.

(No idea why my font is so small)
