RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

My guess is that the gimmick is something with recording your ride experience.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Hopefully it has a mic so I get to listen to all the colorful language from people getting stapled. I forgot to mention that, these trains are ridiculously easy to get stapled on.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I'm wondering if these trains will have seat belts. They ended up adding seat belts to the Superman version after it opened. The reviews were not pleasant... apparently the seat belts pinch your waist on the vertical drops.

Can we see the site layout? I assume it won't be a huge leak since we already saw the site overview a few months ago.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I'm on vacation, so I don't think I'll remember. Someone else remind him.:p

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

i am not familiar with the height logistics or requirements for standup rollercoasters...could this be a stand up? or have the rider straddling the seat ( like a bicycle?).

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I can 100% assure that's not what it is. The ride is way too fast and has too many quick transitions for that to be possible. Stand-up coasters are way out of date. Even Busch Gardens knows this. Like I said before... y'all are putting way too much thought into this.

– Conn Baker of Columbus, Ohio, known as “Diavolo,” Italian for devil, was said to be the first person to perfect a “loop-the-loop” using a safety bicycle for the Adam Forepaugh & Sells Bros. Circus, which called the stunt “the veritable cap-sheaf of all hazardous exploits.” Baker, who used the stage name J.C. Carter, aka Diavolo, honed his skills as a bicycle racer as a teen-ager in the 1880s before perfecting his signature stunt, the loop-the-loop, which entailed speeding down a long incline into a 360-degree loop, counting on his speed and centrifugal force to keep him from dropping from the top of the loop. He joined the Forepaugh & Sells Circus in 1901 and later toured Europe and Asia.

So this ride totally fits into the Festival/Circus/Italian theme. Now I understand the different posters that show the ride in different countries...it's because the actual act toured throughout the world in carnivals and circuses.

Ooh now I like that. Old and sophisticated but still a major draw. Great find!!

Also James' idea of having wooden, or even faux wooden supports would provide ample theme opportunities, as if the circus workers actually constructed the ride for an event.

But wouldn't it be cool if BGW got an awesome coaster like "Shockwave"?!

We certainly put way more thought into the park than the management of the park does at this point.

I will also put all of my dimes on the ride's main track color being red or orange (carnivale colors).

I don't think that the county will allow for those colors. They have many restrictions and limitations when it comes to appearance of sites. Also, the resolution made back in November for the height waiver has a "Color Scheme" clause that states:
The color of the Attraction at any point at or above 60 feet above finished grade shall be muted and designed to minimize visual impacts from Community Character Corridors and areas as defined in the Comprehensive Plan. A color scheme plan and color samples shall be submitted to, and approved by, the Director of Planning for consistency with this condition prior to the issuance of a Building Permit for the Attraction.
James City County is great for the park in so far as beautification, but when the park wants to build something that is noticeable from surrounding areas they have color conflicts.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

They will probably make this ride purple and yellow as well..

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

It is being built next to a purple and gold coaster, but Apollo's was probably build prior to the restriction. I doubt they would allow the same thing to be built with the same color scheme today. Look at the two most recent tall structures in the park - Mach Tower and Griffon - both sky-colored (with the exception of the very top of Mach Tower).

Actually the county didn't want Apollo's Chariot color scheme but the park fought them and won.
