RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Now that you've mentioned it connor, They could turn this thing into a 'record breaking coaster' by enclosing it. The tallest indoor coaster in the world! Clone or not, that is Bada$$.

The building could be 'ribbed' for your pleasure.

Edit...the building idea was for a Pompeii location, not the current planned location.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Until there's an official press release, this will be my last post. We are clearly divided on the ride and the park in general which is perfectly fine. However, I don't intend to clog up this section with ring-around-the-rosie back and forth. I really, really can't wait for this thing to open, not so much for the sake of riding it, but to discuss this ride in the "Operating Attractions" part of the forum in the hopes we can all breathe again as lovers of a theme park, and not as "experts" on all things that entertain us via kinetic energy. We all love and/or have loved BG, and I can see where the consternation comes from when decisions like this are made, but in the end, it all goes on without us until someone here takes Larry's spot and revamps the management.

Until then, much love all, and goodnight.;-P

There is a Coca-Cola themed attraction at BGW? Or are you talking about the Coke Stands?
I was talking about the stands by the way...

I personally don't mind the Coke sponsorship deals. Especially when it's used to create things like Holiday Hills.

Even still, it's better than having the Lawn Mower 3000 over by pompeii.
That is definitely true.

Actually, it's worse. It is a fact that the ancient citizens of Pompeii used lawnmowers extensively to groom the lawns they were famous for. But the lawnmowers were swept away in the volcanic eruption as well. That's why very few people knew.

No, not really. Not at all in fact.

And people, calm down. Y'all are blowing this way out of proportion.

If this were 2 or 3 years ago, I would probably be protesting inside the park, rioting Carl's office, and sending hate mail to corporate. And so would about half of the rest of this site, but we seem to be settling more, and more for mediocrity.

BG is getting a new roller coaster for their 40th year. It's a clone? Who cares.

You may not, but I do. Listen to your words, they're getting a clone for their 40th year, I have never heard anything more saddening.

BG has never owned one.

I'm honestly excited for this, it looks like a fun ride.

Thanks for telling us for the 50th time.
You mad? You took that personal, don't be so sensitive. I have an opinion, as do you. What don't you understand in busch gardens doesn't have the money to build a roller coaster like AC or Alpengeist? They wasted money on a crap drop tower, and an overrated roller coaster.

Busch Gardens wants to add something for their 40th year, and building this is a cheap option. It's a roller coaster, and will draw in more people than a flat ride ever would. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. If this ride is marketed correctly, it will draw people. We make up .008% of BG attendance, the rest aren't as concerned about the park as us. Hopefully 5 years down the road, BG can add a legitimate e-ticket ride, but right now this is what the park can afford, and what they are getting. And with good theming I don't think it will be to bad. You can criticize it, and bash it all day long, but it's coming in 2015.

And for the 51st time, I think it will be a fun ride

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

The park could've had a big e-ticket attraction if they would've just waited a year or two. Now since they're wasting there money on this piece of junk, we won't have an e-ticket anywhere in the near future now. We could've, we definately could've had a nice big e-ticket if the park had waited, but now we can't.

op·por·tu·ni·ty cost:

1) the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Parks have to continue to add rides, to keep guests interested and wanting to come back.

Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility: Added satisfaction declines as you consume more of a good or service.

Lets look at an example. We will use riding the same rides, each 7 times.

Unit Consumed Total Utility  Marginal Utility
1                      20                    20
2                      28                    8
3                      34                    6
4                      38                    4
5                      40                    2
6                      40                    0
7                      38                   -2
As we consume more of an item (or in this situation a ride) each ride brings us less satisfaction. Eventually, people get tired of riding the same rides over and over again, and diminishing marginal utility sets in.

How to fix that from occurring? Always continue to add new attractions, and keep guests interested in what you have to offer. Don't look at this and compare it to the roller coasters BG already has. Look at it like its just a new attraction BG added that doesn't take up much space, and it's one more thing for guests to do while at the park. From a business standpoint, this is a very smart move for BG, and I could go on all day as to why it is.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Loving the Econ talk, folks. Only a year from earning my degree, actually.

In regards to their choices, the park sat down, looked at their options, weighed the costs and benefits, took into account their constraints, and chose what they believed to be the best idea. Whether we like it or not, this is what they chose based on their options. There's tons more factors behind the park's decisions than what most of us consider.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

At this point we know NEXT TO NOTHING about this ride, basically just its footprint and location. Some of us like it, some of us don't; regardless, it is an odd choice for the park, and there's a lot left to be seen. There's not much point in arguing as to WHETHER we should like it; no one's going to convert anyone else. Let's learn more first.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

We're at the point now to where everyone has stated their peace. I did it in my main site post and have shut up about it since because I have nothing more to say. Most of you should probably do the same. I think some of you are blinded fanboys in denial of a park in freefall and some of you probably think I'm a bandwagoning cynic that will never be happy. Leave it there because no one is changing anyone's minds.

Here on the internet, people's minds very rarely actually change based on what other people say. That's how it is. For the sanity of everyone involved, it's better to simply avoid such arguments. The quicker everyone learns that, the better off the forum will be.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

How long did it take other parks to build their ride? When should the walls go up if they want it by 2015? I feel that things should be changing by now. Even if the footprint is small it still looks like tons of work.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

There shouldn't really be any major work starting until September, really. The biggest sign that work will be done is if they start clearing trees during the operating season. Besides clearing the trees, there are very few footers to pour and set, and the ride stacks upon itself for vertical construction. Seriously this ride should rise like a weed in a very short period of time, and has the potential to be an opening day ride if BGW doesn't get picked over by the weather.

Famous last words at BGW. You see how it went last time.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Bosque Magico, located in Guadalupe, Mexico, will be adding a Superman ultimate flight clone in 2015 named Zombie ride. It will feature a dual loading, sliding station like the Mr. Freeze coasters. Maybe Busch Gardens will be getting this as well

Late to the party. And you missed my entire argument about BGW's version having no room in their vertical plans for it.

I don't think it's rude - just a tinge of snark.

Honestly, it's hard following this thread.

I think we're all fed up with getting smashed over the head with the blunt edge of a hammer for the last 2 months. Drumming up any discussion without something new to talk about is just going to bring everything else we bickered about back and we're going to waste even more pages running laps around the topic.

It's pretty bad when a thread is better off having users who aren't up to date on the topic read through past posts (even though they're old) instead of bumping and finding out that way. But considering we have enough information on the project to know what's happening until ground gets broken we might as well focus on other things like Food and Wine Festival, London Rocks, and the fact that Kings Dominion allowed a child well under 54 inches get on Dominator and didn't do anything until after the train was dispatched and it was a ways up the lifthill. Or how about Hershey being in the midst of a lawsuit over ADA policy because someone's wheelchair was mistaken for a stroller?

I really have nothing to add; this is only my second comment on this subject. I have no pony in this race. I just don't think what redsoxfan said was particularly rude considering it's safe to assume very few people have the time to sift through 80 pages of insanity to figure out what's going on.
