News Permanent Closure Announced, Park Placed Up for Sale

According to a couple comments on their most recent Facebook post, all non-kiddie rides aside from their Scrambler are still SBNO, and last Sunday, guests AND employees arrived to find the park closed due to “maintenance issues,” which is both a really damn funny and sad thing to tell people when nothing in the park works anyway.

It also appears that their trapdoor slides are closed, not sure how long this has been the case as I’ve barely looked into Splash World as it’s been the least of their worries after passing inspection.

That led me to take a closer look at their social media posts, and interestingly enough, they have only had one post prominently featuring dry park rides, those being the scrambler and carousel, but the video still had a primary focus on Splash World. At least they’re not getting anyone’s hopes up, but I guess they’re all in on being a waterpark with a couple kiddie rides and a scrambler this season.

If I still lived in the area, I’d spend $20 to simply take a walk around and get a more comprehensive idea of what the hell is happening here, but I suppose I’m probably not missing too much by looking into it from South Carolina.

Obviously I knew things weren’t good at all from the research I’ve done, but this is absolutely fucking abysmal. The overgrown, half disassembled, half-assed tarp covered rides really sell my assumption that this is it. The park wasn’t even in this sad of a state when it was SBNO for nearly 2 years.

The amount of time and money required to bring this park back to a state even remotely worth visiting almost certainly exceeds the park’s value, it looks like it was abandoned years ago. Seeing King Neptune’s Revenge in such awful shape is the real loss here, it’s an oddly great log flume for park like Clementon. These pics are, funny enough, the only confirmation I’ve gotten that Hellcat’s second train does in fact still exist, even if it appears to have not been used since at least the Premier Parks era.

As far as Dragon Coaster goes, it seems like operations have been inconsistent at best. I’ve seen a couple stray reports of it operating sporadically this season, but it appears to be down more often than not.

Unfortunately I am now fully confident that the most we can expect out of a 2027 season is Splash World operating independently of the dry park, there’s not exactly much left to operate on that side. Even then, with failed inspections this season and some slides STILL closed, it might not be worthwhile with Gene also owning Sahara Sam’s right down the road (which I’m mildly curious about the state of these days).

@zachclarke I appreciate your sacrifice of $20 and your time spent looking around, it’s been incredibly helpful for this former local who seems to only care about the park when it’s collapsing.

Admittedly, I barely glanced over the photos of the waterpark earlier because that’s been the ONE thing they haven’t been afraid of posting to their social media, but now that you mention it…yeah, what the actual hell lmao?? I’m amazed the park was even open with the half of it that could even MAYBE be the tiniest bit profitable looking about as busy as a Sears.

There’s something so unsettling about seeing RMC track completely abandoned, too.

Watched a recent vlog and things have improved ever so slightly, but also taken a few steps back in other directions. Splash World is down to 2 slides, the wave pool, and the lazy river. Dragon Coaster is in fact open, but looks and sounds awful. Formula 3000 and the carousel are open, but several rides are still half disassembled.

Interestingly enough, the carousel has also been relocated to the former Thunderbolt/Thunder Drop plot, and I will actually praise them for that as it’s the first thing visible upon entry. There is also a part of some other ride sitting in the carousel’s former plot, having a hard time identifying it based on the park’s lineup but it could also be from Niagara:

They bought the track for it a while back, but recent photos from @zachclarke showed that it's still just sitting in the storage yard untouched.

In other news, it's somehow that time again @northdetective—lets see where Hell Cat can fit. Sounds like a meme, but it is a steel structure woodie with some 208 track already fabricated for it. Could have some real value to a smaller park and now that we know RMC is amenable to working with a park to relocate and modify an existing steel structure and we know multiple parties were interested in AF1, the time could be perfect. I mean if Switchback can sell, this thing RMCed could, no?

If I were a small park with the room for Hell Cat and looking for a good deal on a major thrill coaster, I would definitely be reaching out to Clementon and RMC and asking if something could be possible. Unlike AF1 which was in super high demand, a park could probably pickup Hell Cat for next to nothing. Give RMC some money to "RMC it" and a small park could have an absolute beast of a small-scale RMC at a bargain basement price.
