We went yesterday and it didn't feel like Pass Member Appreciation Days from the past, when you might be tapped for a little giveaway if you had your pass visible on your person, and there were merchandise discounts in pretty much all the shops. We didn't encounter any perks for its being Pass Member Appreciation Day, but we could easily have missed them. Were the shops offering discounts? I did remember to ask when we made one purchase, but just got the regular discount, but I didn't think of it again.
Mach Tower had a really brief shutdown (as in it was open, closed a few minutes, and open again before we finished eating) while we were having Best Pretzels and Beer (DH was very unhappy that the taps were reportedly "frozen" and he had to have the bottled stuff -- he thought that was really quite lame. I'm not as into beer so it didn't bother me) but otherwise I never noticed it not running while we were there, but I didn't see VBolt running at all. EitA closed for HOS but otherwise I didn't notice any other ride shutdowns.
The weather was beautiful and the crowd was light, light, light. Staff at 2 of the 3 stations of the sky ride were so busy flirting with each other that they didn't even speak to us as we loaded and unloaded -- very unusual. They were efficient certainly, but usually they are friendly and acknowledge you and wish you a good day, etc. Griffon staff were "on" and sharing banter with the crowd.
Not a lot of HOS decorations yet -- some suspended jack o'lanterns over the path crossroads where you turn to go to Italy or Scotland, some suspended ghosts, rats in France/Aquitaine. Fun-looking ghouls in Ireland though, complete with character profiles.
I hope the park brings its A game to HOS. Hopefully the staff were just enjoying some downtime before the big event starts next weekend. Park had a "meh" feeling even though we certainly liked the lack of long lines for the rides! We even rode some of the flats that we skip if there's a line at all, like Battering Ram and so forth.
Oh, but I have to give kudos to the Animal Encounter folks -- they seemed extra enthusiastic, very chatty when they had their animals on display, they were definitely "on" -- saw the gyrfalcon, red-tailed hawk, prehensile-tailed skink, and of course the wolf pups.
