Trying to save Patriot or Flight Deck just seems absolutely absurd to me. I get that the chain has no money and these are technically functional assets, but I don't see how the juice is worth the squeeze for any even slightly notable park—and this is coming from the guy who thinks moving Hell Cat may be worthwhile. Even considering Patriot or Flight Deck for a single second at parks like Canada's Wonderland or Great Adventure is mind-bogglingly offensive.

I agree, sitting here looking at 35 year old B&Ms as new additions for parks (especially for Knott's!) is insane to me as well...

the sad part thats probably the only ride that could fit at knotts and get permits approved.

im hoping cga flat rides do get saved Berserker,Centrifuge,Barney oldfields redwood ralley and peanuts pirates would be solid addictions to carowinds

As absurd as relocating most of CGA’s lineup would be, the bigger picture to me is that if they’re looking to loot the park of these rides, its days are probably numbered for real this time.

Very strange to me that Great Chase, a ride that could be taken down in a day and would REALLY fit at SFoG, is still collecting dust at SFA, but they apparently have no issue with taking on the relocation of these coasters that no park needs.

One has to wonder if they’re trying to do a wave of relocations for 2028-2029 ish- Arie, stuff from CGA, maybe some leftovers from SFA if the timing is right.

Saves them a chunk of money and expands the parks, but idk how marketable these are by themselves…

This is what's throwing me. How are we considering fucking Patriot from CGA when S:RoS is sitting in a field in Maryland right now? Hell, I could probably argue that Joker's Jinx or even the goddamn SLC make more sense to save than these ancient B&Ms. I don't get it.

I’ve been on the “Superman is too much of a hassle to relocate” train since day one, but if they’re considering a shitty floorless conversion (but not the shitty floorless conversion they have readily available) and a downright elderly custom B&M invert, JJ and an SLC (an off the shelf, easily relocatable model) really seem much more ripe for the picking than they did to me a year and a half ago, or even a week ago.

Do I think either of them should be relocated? Absolutely not, as much as I’d love to see JJ pop up at another park. But when the alternatives are equally ridiculous and old, might as well save the one with a launch.

I will never not be stunned that Great Chase wasn’t out of the park within a month or two of closing. Ragin’ Cajun was always going to see another lease on life, but I thought for sure that GC was going to be the first coaster to move, whether it was sold or relocated within the chain.

most likely the timing it seems like CGA 2027 will be the final year and then start packing stuff up before the summer 2028 deadline. we dont know what the contracts are like for sfa could have been as soon as the papers were signed they could grab certain rides in a certain time period
 
One thing we don't know is the relative condition of attractions at the two parks. I only went to SFA once, but it absolutely seemed like the minimum amount required for safe operation was being invested into upkeep. On the other hand, CGA absolutely seems to take good care of their attractions, and while most are on the older side it doesn't necessarily mean they're worthless. A survey like this could very well be used to test whether these older attractions are sufficiently marketable in a new location to be worth the cost to refurbish and reinstall or whether they're likely to not be worth the effort and thus better parted out to similar models across the chain.

I would think no not necessarily. If we started matching up “hey aren’t the stats of this coaster survey option oddly lining up with one currently at Kings Island, or one already at Over Texas, or Magic Mountain” then perhaps some ride relocation program would indicate an inability to afford new investments. However, Cedar Fair sold the land CGA was on with the intention of the park closing long before the merger ever started, so unfortunately for a park we know is on its last year or two, it makes sense to try and salvage whatever assets they believe are worth keeping (just like the flats and Ragin’ Cajun from SFA).

If I have to be honest the only things I truly do care about saving are Carousel Columbia, Gold Striker, RailBlazer (due to age). Carousel Columbia because I grew up going to Danbury Mall in CT which has a similar Carousel and that style holds a special place in my heart. And Gold Striker would be about the only one of their coasters I would regret never riding if it’s not saved.

Gold Striker is legit and I would love to see it moved. I do get a little worried that the size of it will keep it from being relocated, which would be a shame.
