I305 says closed today on the queue times app. Is it just because of rain? I’m going tomorrow. Will it reopen then?

I saw people in a FB post saying that it was running yesterday so I assume that it will depend on the weather tomorrow.

I don’t know if it was half speed, but it did seem a bit slower than normal going up the lift.

Random observation tonight. The lift is running at ~half its normal speed and slowing even more at the top similar to Skyrush. Wasn't doing this Friday. Not going to be a thoosie and say the ride is ruined (it's not) but it's definitely a little slower.

Yeah that's a way more exaggerated slow down than what Skyrush or El Toro has. It doesn't make it more than halfway up the lift before losing speed.

It's similar to what happened to Millennium Force a couple of years ago, so there's definitely *something* wrong with the lift.

I305’s lift has a wet and dry mode that’s set when maintenance decides it’s appropriate. Wet mode does run the lift at a slower rate compared to dry.

Random untrue fact:

It actually has three modes,
Dry, wet and moist; which is somewhere between dry and wet...

Speculating a bit here, but after thinking about it, if there is an issue at I305 my money would be on the train in waiting taking a long time to park. While I305’s lift speed can be adjusted, it‘s not able to do it on the fly. Combine that with the fact that I305 has only 3 blocks (Load, Lift, & Waiting) and you can end up with a set up. A setup, for those of you who don’t know, is when a train stops at the end of a block because the next block isn’t clear. I305 can usually automatically recover from a setup, but if it's happening consistently, it could fault out or guests could be complaining.

This is very interesting. Let's cross our fingers that the lift hill cable does not need to be replaced again. Last time this happened was back in 2013 towards the end of the summer.

How can it have a setup if the train is sitting in the final brakes? Yeah it has 3 blocks but in order to dispatch a train don't you have to wait until train #1 parks in the final brakes?

Whatever is wrong with this ride; I hope Cedar Fair can find it in their budget to fix it. The ride is only 10 years old and is a major crowd drawer. It would be a major shame to see KD lose another good coaster. And I highly doubt that Cedar Fair would be able to replace this one. We already see there is a major slow down in getting the Volcano replacement.

I really don't think that's even a remote possibility at this point.

Yes, Intamin took a lot of risks in the design but I don't believe there were any one-of-a-kind components that went into it, unlike a certain suspended LIM multi-launch full circuit coaster you referenced. Even when they had that gear-box issue a few years back, my understanding was that it was more about how little of that type of ride system they sell so they don't keep any lying around at the shop vs custom building a new one when needed than it was about having to redesigning new parts because they finally had real-world data to guide the design.

Just because it has mixed reviews with park guests vs. being the star attraction they had hoped for doesn't mean there's a justification for demolition/replacement.
